About this property

Deep in the rural outskirts of the historic town of Valenca, Villa Aldina offers a unique holiday experience, with luxurious interiors and a vast garden that provides sublime views of the famous rolling hills of the Minho region.

The entire villa is set on one floor, making it ideal for those with reduced mobility. The main living areas consist of a spacious sitting room with two large leather sofas by the TV, which look out over the garden and the enchanting world beyond. These patio doors allow the room to fill with natural light, creating a bright and welcoming living space. There is a dining table for six alongside the sofas. Along the back wall is the kitchen. Granite worktops expand the length of the room, providing plenty of room for everyone to get involved with meal preparation, while a breakfast bar looking towards the garden divides the room and offers a wonderful spot to dine with a view! A small stove by the TV allows you to enjoy the warmth and soothing sounds of a log fire on the cooler winter nights.

There are three wonderful bedrooms, all of which enjoy direct access straight to the fabulous garden – so you can leap out of bed and straight into the sunshine in the fresh morning air! There is one double room and two twin rooms, ideal for a family. All three are bright and airy thanks to the patio doors, and enjoy a simple, elegant design. Between the three rooms there are two sparkling clean and bright bathrooms, one with a bath and one with a shower.

The vast garden has a fantastic variety of herbs and flowers, small trees and a well-kept lawn for you to enjoy. The pool is sure to provide endless hours of fun, for kids and big kids alike! It’s the perfect place to cool off when the sun starts to warm you a little too much. Settle in a sun lounger by the pool and watch the world go by in the valley, and be sure see the sun set over the mountains in the distance as you enjoy a glass of the famous local wine: the Vinho Verde!

The location of Villa Aldina is perfect for any group that enjoys the outdoors, a little history or that simply fancies exploring two countries in one holiday!

Nestled in the charming rural outskirts of the historic town of Valenca, Villa Aldina offers sublime views of the famous rolling hills of the Minho region, and is ideally located to explore the fascinating and beautiful towns and landscapes of northern Portugal. The Spanish border is in fact within walking distance! With just over 5km separating you from the fabulous Spanish region of Galicia, with its wild, rugged coastline and rich green valleys.

Further south, however, are many wonderful Portuguese towns. Just 8km away is the fabulous town of Valenca, in an utterly idyllic location and a fascinating history, still visible in the labyrinth of fortifications, submerged passages and jutting watchtowers that weave through the city. South of that, roughly a 20-minute drive away, is Ponte de Lima, another of Portugal’s oldest and most historic towns with a delightful range of shops, bars and restaurants among the ornate squares and cobbled alleyways. While the town of Braga, the capital of the district, is a further 25 minutes south, and hosts many relics of the region’s diverse history.

To the east, just over half an hour away, is the country’s only National Park, the mountainous nature reserve of Peneda Geres National Park which hosts prehistoric remains, walking trails and rugged hills as well as deer, wolves and golden eagles! Minho is a fantastic, largely rural region on the northernmost Atlantic tip of Portugal, bordering the Spanish region of Galiza, with which it shares many attributes. Minho is perhaps most famous as the home of the Vinho Verde, a crisp, dry white wine (although as the name suggests, it is in fact green!) best enjoyed with a local fish dish.

Portugal itself is a small, fascinating country at the most Western point of mainland Europe. The capital, Lisbon, is known for its lively nightlife, with endless bars and clubs full of fun-loving locals and tourists alike, but also has plenty of fascinating history (check out Belém, jam-packed with monuments!) and undulating terrain, famously termed the ‘city of the seven hills’. From Lisbon, it is very quick to travel by the domestic high-speed train line to the city of Braga, which will connect you fairly quickly to Villa Aldina.

With a vast coastline with the powerful Atlantic Ocean, Portugal is a true paradise for the keen surfer, or indeed even those looking to try if for the first time. And for those less keen on surfing, the beaches of Portugal are still well worth a visit for their beautifully clear waters and fine sands.
