About this property

Located a short drive outside of Martina Franca, in the Puglia region of Italy, Villa Battaglini offers the quality and design reflecting an authentic Italian get-away house. Set within its private, sumptuous grounds, this owner-occupied home is a secluded treasure tucked away in green tranquillity.

The finish throughout is impeccable, with every little hallmark of style thoughtfully considered. Lovingly restored, this original villa blends traditional style with subtle, contemporary verve and charisma!

Accommodating twelve guests over six bedrooms, with an option of a sofa bed for an additional guest or perhaps a child in the group, the bedrooms and living areas are simply brimming with charm.

Entering the estate guests will have to catch their breath as they swing into the long, elegant tree-lined drive and pull up to this characterful home. The outdoor spaces are luscious and stunning, meticulously designed with understated flair.

The beautifully cloistered veranda is offering privacy and shade, through to stunning outdoor courtyard eating area, little private nooks for morning coffee and breakfast through to private pool amid fragrant plants and fig trees, this is a little taste of authentic Italian charm.

Air-conditioned throughout, Wi-Fi is provided, while guests will have complimentary water, breakfast served to them and can take advantage of their private patios leading off the bedrooms.

The Deluxe room offers a king size bed - a tranquil and calm space offering something worthy of an interiors magazine. Quality is abundant, apparent in the wonderful lighting, crisp bed linen, fluffy towels and window-side armchairs looking over the wonderful green gardens. This room comes with an en-suite shower room.

The Superior Room likewise has a king size bed, its private patio and en-suite, as well as the option to add another bed if needed. Neutral oatmeal tones, subtle lighting, a lovely writing desk, comfortable sofa - these bedrooms are designed with the utmost ease of their guests in mind.

The Suite room offers both a sumptuous bedroom as well as its private living room, with a sofa bed. Providing the ultimate in privacy, it has a private entrance and roof terrace, with a stunning view of the Valley of Itria.

With its discreet and thoughtful layout, this villa is suitable for either a family or group of adults or a set of couples holidaying together, offering both sociable eating spaces as well as privacy and independence. Living spaces are sublime: this villa even comes with a beautifully restored wine cellar, making this place an ideal spot for a glass of local wine and some antipasti.

The living room, so tastefully finished, is a space to unwind: comfortable seating and wonderful views, guests will always find a selection of books and magazines on offer.

The breakfast room has a large communal dining space and the breakfasts themselves are full of fresh local delicacies: fresh pressed juices, fragrant figs and oranges, fresh local bread and salamis to name a few. This space was once a fully operational Palmento - where farmers used to produce their olive oil and wine. The thick, ancient walls of this superb building meaning that in the Summer months it remains cool and fresh, while in the winter it is warm and insulated.

The outdoor spaces are peerless, ideally set up for outdoor dining. The outside fireplace provides a stunning ambience in the evening - imagine sitting back with a glass of wine from the on-site wine cellar in hand. Here, guests are truly taken care of.

The private pool is especially beautiful when lit at night; fig trees and prickly pear trees make this such a fragrant and sumptuous spot.

The owner lives on site and offers guests every convenience including daily breakfast and light cleaning, while remaining a discreet presence. He has passionately restored this original farmhouse space and is a wealth of knowledge on Puglia and its surrounding region.

Located just a short drive from Martina Franca, in the heart of Puglia, guests will enjoy the wonderful, vibrant Southern Italian way of life.

Martina Franca's pretty, historic centre offers a winding maze of alleyways and an intermix of architecture: whitewashed simplicity nestled alongside baroque extravagance.

Built on a hill in the verdant and lush Valle d'Itria, visitors will enjoy the surrounding countryside as an antidote to the narrow lanes of the ever so photogenic Martina Franca.

Steeped in history, the main entrance to the old town is through a grand historical gateway, Porto Santo Stefano. In the main piazza and park outside the town walls, locals will gather to natter.

The centre of Martina Franca is charming and worth roaming around observing local daily life; you can still see the pointed roof buildings which are a local tradition; eighteenth-century palaces, a little age-worn, jostle among humble dwellings - within the true spirit of Puglia.

Alberobello is worth making a day trip for, in the trull-dotted (original pointed roof homes) Valle d'Itria; pretty hilltop towns such as Locorotondo and Ostuni offer a taste of authentic white-washed local town life.

From soaking up the atmosphere in downtown Martina Franca to sampling the cured ham that is the pride of the town, to meandering through the Valle d'Itria to the pretty hilltop towns, visitors will have a genuine taste of real Puglian living.

Stunning retreat in the country side of Puglia. We were treated to a very warm welcome and made to feel right at home. A short drive to the nearest town. Loved this gorgeous place and could easily imagine getting married here!

Spacious, bright and beautiful rooms. Very convenient parking lot right next to the masseria. Lorenzo is an amazing and considerate guest, he waited for us till very late the night of our arrival because our flight was delayed. The location is perfect if you want to visit the main touristic attractions of the area (Ostuni, Alberobello, Monopoli, Polignano).
