About this property

Kildysart 3 miles. A delightful detached stone cottage set in a peaceful and picturesque area close to the village of Kildysart, County Clare. With beautiful views of the Shannon Estuary and surrounding countryside, The Stone House is ideally located to use as a base to explore the many attractions County Clare Clare is famous for. This lovely cottage has three bedrooms on the ground floor, one of which has an en-suite shower, together with a family shower room. There is also a double bedroom on the lower ground floor together with a shower room and utility area. The accommodation has an open plan kitchen and dining area with an open fire where you can enjoy fabulous meals, and a separate sitting room also with an open fire, where you can relax and plan your next day’s activities. Outside there are private enclosed gardens to the front, side and rear with furniture where you can unwind with a refreshing drink whilst the children and dog can dash around to their delight. Just three miles from the cottage is Kildysart, a quaint village situated on the banks of the Shannon Estuary, halfway between the towns of Ennis and Kilrush. Although a quiet village, it boasts many facilities, with excellent fishing, both in the Estuary and in the local lakes. The lakes of Gortglass, Clonshnacta and Effirnan, are only about a five minute drive from the village. The lakes are trout fishing lakes only and membership of the local angling club is required to fish in them which is easy to obtain and inexpensive. Further afield is Bunratty Folk Park, Kilkee and Doonbeg Golf Club. Whilst in the region of Clare you must take a drive along the coast toward the stunning seaside villages of Lahinch and Liscannor which lead onto the spectacular Cliffs of Moher. For wildlife lovers, why not take a dolphin watching boat trip on the Shannon Estuary? This delightful cottage offers the perfect base for your Clare adventure.

Recently rebranded as ‘The Fishermans Haven’, the quiet village of Kildysart is famed for its excellent fishing resources and has been a magnet for anglers from all over the world for years. Trout fishing is ever-popular in the local lakes, only five minutes away in Gortglass and Cloonsnaghta, and is permitted with a membership from the local angling club. Situated on the coastal road between Ennis and Kilrush, this quaint little village may have a quiet reputation but has many local facilities including the Quay Marina and seven pubs where local home-cooked food and fine brews can be enjoyed along with a warm friendly welcome from the locals.
