About this property

Chapeltown 3 miles. This lovely detached bungalow is in an isolated location close to the town of Chapeltown on Valentia Island in County Kerry. Perfect for friends and families who wish to get away from it all and appreciate the fabulous views from the cottage. From the front door there is a sitting room with comfy seating and a living-flame gas fire to snuggle around if the weather gets colder. There is a well-equipped kitchen with dining area enjoying beautiful views across to the mountains beyond. The outside utility room is home to the tumble dryer. Beautiful views are also to be had from all the three double bedrooms. Finally, the accommodation is complete with a lovely shower room. Outside this cosy cottage there is a garden with furniture where you can sit and relax with a coffee or glass of wine, whilst planning your adventures for the next day. On Valentia Island you can head to the small town of Chapeltown or visit the 1 acre coastal site of the Transatlantic Cable which links Europe to the United States and includes the ruin of the 150-year-old Anglo-American Cable House and with views of Foilhommerum Bay and the Skellig rocks. Visit the wonderful Skellig Chocolate Factory, where you can watch the chocolate being made before enjoying a snack and a coffee. Head back to the mainland to discover the small fishing village of Portmagee, just three miles away, which is home to a good selection of shops and pubs and is famous for its fresh fish with plentiful seafood restaurants. Drive on to the town of Cahersiveen, which offers cafes, traditional pubs and restaurants if you wish to take the night off from cooking. Also, while in the area, take a drive along the world-famous Ring of Kerry and marvel its truly spectacular coastal and inland scenery.

Portmagee is a small fishing village situated on the south western most tip of the Iveragh Peninsula in County Kerry, Ireland. Known as the gateway to Valentia Island, Portmagee is also located on the Skellig Ring, an offshoot of the stunning Ring of Kerry, which is home to the amazing Skellig Rock. Portmagee offers pubs, restaurants and Irish dancing, which takes place twice a week all year round.
