This lovely detached cottage provides a fantastic base, just outside the centre of Carrigaholt in County Clare. With the bedrooms split across the ground and first floor, the accommodation will suit a variety of friendship and family groups looking to stay along the western Irish coast. From the entrance hall, the comfortable and homely sitting room is to the right. With cosy seating and an electric fire, this is a pleasant room to relax in at the end of the day. At the back of the cottage is a well-equipped open plan living area with a kitchen, a dining area and seating so the chef of the group can have some company while preparing an evening meal. On warmer days you can open the patio doors and let the outdoors in to enjoy the Irish air. On the ground floor are four of the five bedrooms, including a double with an en-suite shower room. There is also a separate ground floor bathroom, ideal for soaking aching feet after spending the day walking. Upstairs is a double bedroom and a second bathroom with a bath and a separate shower. Outside, the large lawned garden with a patio area provides a fantastic space for children to play and the views include glimpses of the sea over the tree line. The fishing village of Carrigaholt is surrounded by countryside and offers guests a tranquil base. There is a choice of pubs, a restaurant, a takeaway and a shop, and the fishing pier is a lovely place to watch the boats coming and going. The Loop Head Peninsula provides a variety of attractions for days out including the Loop Head Lighthouse and there are stunning views available as you travel the area. This cottage has so much to offer and is such an ideal base you will find yourself needing to return.
The small, picturesque fishing village of Carrigaholt is located at the mouth of the Moyarta river, which flows into the River Shannon estuary, in County Clare. The village features a ruined castle and offers a shop and a handful of pubs and restaurants. There is also a beach, which is ideal for swimming, along with sea fishing opportunities and boat trips for dolphin watching. A short drive takes you to the charming seaside town of Kilkee, which overlooks a mile-long horseshoe bay, with a safe and sandy Blue Flag beach, and is reputed to be the safest bathing place in Ireland.
