About this property

This charming, coastal semi-detached cottage is situated overlooking the harbour in the heart of Carrigaholt, a delightful little fishing village on the southern side of the Loop Head Peninsula in County Clare. This character cottage has been lovingly rebuilt on it's original site and now offers all the modern comforts you could ask for during your holiday, whilst still retaining some traditional features, including a large feature fireplace. The ground floor comprises of a bright and airy double height dining/living area with full-height glazing and sloping glass roof, a large fitted farmhouse kitchen, and a sitting area with a warming woodburning stove. Upstairs, three lovely bedrooms complete the accommodation, including one that boasts an en-suite shower room. There is a spacious gallery area with extensive views to the west over the salt marshes of the estuary, with a wide variety of bird life to watch. For those hazy, summer evenings, the doors of the dining area can open out to the rear patio where you can dine alfresco or simply relax with a glass of wine. The quiet village of Carrigaholt is home to a selection of friendly traditional pubs, a Post Office and a shop, all of which will greet you with a warm Irish welcome. The village pier serves local fishing boats and sea angling tours, as well as award-winning dolphin tours that operate regularly within the estuary, which is home to one of Europe’s largest dolphin pods! There is also a sandy beach where you can enjoy an afternoon swimming, lounging or snoozing, whatever your preference! The Loop Head Peninsula offers visitors a mouth watering slice of breathtaking coastal scenery with postcard views in all directions. Why not venture out to the Loop Head Lighthouse, or visit the nearby seaside village of Kilkee, which is a popular family spot with a sandy beach, clifftop walk and a selection of eateries and cafes? A fantastic location for your Wild Atlantic Way vacation!

The small, picturesque fishing village of Carrigaholt is located at the mouth of the Moyarta river, which flows into the River Shannon estuary, in County Clare. The village has a ruined castle, a shop, pubs and restaurants. There is also a beach, which is ideal for swimming, along with sea fishing opportunities and boat trips for dolphin watching.
