About this property

Newport 0.8 miles. A lovely detached character cottage on the outskirts of Newport, County Mayo. Nestled in beautiful countryside, yet only ten minutes’ walk to the town, this cosy cottage offers two bedrooms and comfortable living accommodation to come home to after a busy day exploring everything this area has to offer. Throw another log on the stove, sit back and relax, and recount your adventures of the day. With a fitted kitchen offering a space to dine, you can rustle up a hearty breakfast whilst you spread out your maps and plot your next expedition! Newport is a beautiful heritage town, stunningly located on the shores of Clew Bay. Whether your idea of the perfect break is action-packed days of fishing, walking and cycling, or a more leisurely wander round a town steeped in history, Newport is the perfect base for a holiday in the west of Ireland. County Mayo has some wonderful cycle routes to choose from. Escape the bustle of urban life on the Great Western Greenway, the longest off road walking and cycling trail in Ireland; the Greenway follows Ireland’s Atlantic coast between Westport town and Achill Island and visits the picturesque villages of Newport and Mulranny. For a family day out, you can’t beat a trip to the beach, and County Mayo has the highest number of Blue Flag beaches in the country, from small sheltered coves to stretches of sand – further than the eye can see. Renowned for its excellent fishing, Newport offers something for everyone, whatever your level of expertise. We have sea angling in the bountiful waters of Clew Bay, while Newport River and Beltra Lake are regarded as some of the best freshwater fishing grounds in Europe. A stay in Newport just wouldn’t be complete without a visit to one of our traditional pubs. Find a cosy corner and make yourself at home – enjoy the traditional music still thriving here, or simply savour the perfect pint, poured by a friendly local barman. Take some time to discover Castlebar, Westport, Croagh Patrick Mountain and Achill Island, which are all well worth visiting. A beautiful country cottage for your Irish adventure which will live long in the memory.

The small harbour village of Newport in County Mayo is situated along the shores of Clew Bay. Watersports and fishing, as well as walks and cycle routes are available in the area, and there are shops, pubs and restaurants in the village.
