    About this property

A superb detached house situated 100 metres from a lovely blue flag beach in Dugort with sea views and a short walk to the sea edge. This charming house is perfect for family and friends to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life, surrounded by breathtaking scenery situated by the sultry mount Slievemore. Tastefully furnished with both comfort and convenience in mind, the house has four lovely bedrooms spread over two floors. Downstairs you will find a well-equipped open plan living area with a kitchen, perfect for whipping up a tasty breakfast to prepare you for a day of exploring, a dining area with enough room to seat six for a celebratory meal and a sitting area with a warming open fire, ideal for curling up with a good book and a mug of hot cocoa in the chillier months. Stroll down to the beach and soak up the summer sun or relax with a refreshing drink of something cool safe in the knowledge that home is just a short walk away. Indeed, with plenty of spectacular scenery on the island you will certainly not be disappointed if you decide to pull on your walking boots or hop on your bike and go adventuring. Less than fifteen minutes’ drive away is the village of Keel which is a paradise for those who enjoy watersports such as sea kayaking, windsurfing and sailboarding. If you’ve never tried surfing, why not book yourself a lesson and experience the exhilarating feeling of riding the Atlantic waves? Alternatively, for a more leisurely pursuit there’s plenty of tranquil fishing sports further inland and a fine selection of pubs and cafes in which to enjoy a drink and a bite to eat. For a true adventure, experience the stunning scenery as you drive to the mainland and visit the bustling town of Westport. Walk down the streets of this town steeped in culture and be tempted into one of the fantastic pubs by the traditional Irish music being played within. A great house in a beautiful location, ideal for an Irish adventure you’ll never forget.

At 57 square miles, Achill is the largest island of Ireland, and lies off the west coast, in County Mayo. The island is linked to the mainland by the Michael Davitt Bridge, making it easily accessible. Boasting five Blue Flag beaches, Achill has some of the most beautiful, secluded, remote beaches in Ireland, but water sports are always easy to find.

" We made another booking which through yourselves and the owner we finally arranged for September 2021. Having waited over 16months from the initial booking date we duly arrived at what on paper sounded like our idea of an ideal holiday home. However what we arrived at was far from that. The property smelt musty having only been unoccupied for 1 week. The ashes from an old fire were still in the grate and the fireguard was caked with dust. The hob was covered in grease and grime and 1 cupboard door had remnants of a gravy spillage running down it. The Grill pan for use in the oven was missing from the property. The fridge had no icebox in the top and no facilities to store frozen food or ice for drinks was available in the property. The shower in the downstairs en-suite has a permenant drip. The shower in the upstairs en-suite has a broken connection with the shower hose/showerhead making it unsuable. The leather covering on the sofa and a leather chair in the lounge are split through age in various places. An electric socket in the lounge id damaged and should be replaced as a matter of urgency. We contacted the owner who gave us a refund of 60 euros on the rental. I will not be returning to the property unless the ownwer spend a considerable amount of money refurbishing the property from top to bottom. It begs the question "do you as a company check the properties you act for, or just take the owners word as gospel. This cottage is in such a beautiful location but lets itself down. "

" Property was not ready at 4. Emma promised to get us a clothes horse but never delivered. We requested dish cloths but no response. We told Emma that there was a dangerous situation with the septic tank in the garden but no response. Even though the cottage is technically closest to the beach it is practically the furthest because you have to walk past all the other cottages to get to the beach. Property could do with a grill and freezer. It is a great cottage but a little shabby. Heating system is good. Despite all the above we really enjoyed our stay. "

"Inside the property needs to be painted and a good maintenance carried out. We book this property because of the location and we have always found it clean and we know what to expect."

" It is spacious and functional but the finish feels like a student house. Garden completely wild, a bedroom door coming off hinges, downstairs shower not working, lack of items such as teapot, coffeepot, or chopping board in kitchen etc.... Dugort is a great location, food in the strand hotel is good, there is also a small shop. Great for water sports and for families "

" This is our third time staying in this property. Five minutes easy walk to the beautiful beach in Dugort, the hotel and local cafe. Achill Island is a wonderful location with spectacular scenery. Lots of activities for all the family. The property comfortably sleeps eight people, is clean, warm and is as presented in th ad. Would reccomend it. We have booked again for next year. "
    Mr Mounter
" Had to fashion blinds over windows with black bin bags to get some sleep - blinds for velux windows are inexpensive and easy to fit unable to use back or patio doors as there was no key internet poor apart from that a wonderful location and generally an enjoyable stay tho a tad pricey "

" The location of this facility was excellent and as described. The place was clean on arrival. However the property was lacking any effort to make it really comfortable. There were no blinds on any of the four skylight bedroom windows. The other windows had the cheapest most transparent curtains possible. We had to buy tinfoil and sellotape to cover up the windows to enable us to sleep past sunrise. This meant we were unable to appreciate views from bedroom windows during the daytime. Very dissappoiting. Everything had the feeling of the cheapest job possible to finish. We couldn't access wifi and eventually found a router but the account had no credit on it. A welcome booklet about the houses facilities would have been helpful to explain where this was and the credit should have been topped up. Certain things available at the previous location would have made our stay more comfortable, a high chair, a coffee maker, more pots, one decent knife, an grill that you could use without smoking out the whole house, some oven trays (we had to buy one), garden furniture and a bbq and just a general effort to make the place feel like some effort went in to makng it homely. My standards were high after our last experience. Next time I think I'll just air bnb it. "

"The location is superb and it was made great by 2 weeks of fantastic weather. as with some other Irish owners more effort could of gone into making the property excellent. Everything was OK but the outside of the house was a building site. In comparison to the prevoius property the bedding towels etc were clean but very basic quality. The felt the owner lacked interest in maximising what he had. I would of paid more happily if he ungraded it all."

"Position on map when first looking at cottage did not turn out to be a reality , it was misleading as we only received actual address once we had paid in full , would have been better to have had this information before booking as it caused issues for travel arrangements for us to attend the wedding we went for. Although saying that position of cottage on beach near strand hotel was very good ."

"House is just lovely... all amenities as on the website. It was spotlessly clean and thanks to Orla a beautiful fire greeted us on Saturday night. It was warm and cosy and sleeps 8 in 4 bedrooms. Lovely quiet estate. The beach is called dogurt and its 5 min walk and it's a beautiful beach ...we were on it for the full week. Life guards are operating on it too. Beautiful walks along beach at sunset...wonderful. Lovely restaurants in close proximity and all in all a lovely quiet part of achill to stay in. We really enjoyed it. We will definitely book here again next year. If had a gripe ....it would be to have a tea pot in the kitchen."
