About this property

An ideal base from which to tour the south coast of Cornwall, this cosy contemporary house is set in a quiet residential area in the heart of the world-famous Georgian village and working port of Charlestown, a mile from St Austell and close to the Eden Project. Driving down to the village you turn off to this quiet location where the house is situated, hidden away yet only a few minutes walk to the harbour. Parking outside, you enter the house into the hallway leading through to the sitting room before going through to the well-equipped kitchen and dining area. From here you can access the decked courtyard and then take the stairway up the old foundry wall to the upper lawned garden where you can relax after a day touring the coast. On the first floor are the two bedrooms, a double and a twin, along with the bathroom. To this day Charlestown remains unspoilt and retains much of its Georgian character and this unique combination has led to the village being much in demand as a film and television location. Fans of Poldark will instantly recognise the proud harbour where you regularly see magnificent square rigger ships transporting you into a bygone era. Well worth a visit is the Shipwreck, Rescue and Heritage Centre located in the village and containing many exhibits relating to Charlestown's past and of course some interesting shipwreck salvage. For a small village there are three excellent pubs serving good food and local ales as well as restaurants and cafés. Less than a mile away is Cornwall's largest town, St Austell, with a cinema and a variety of shops, restaurants and pubs. St Austell Bay, with its many sandy beaches is a haven for water sports and walkers will have the choice of the stunning South West Coast Path or the many woodlands and trails. With so much to do whatever the weather, this really is an excellent holiday destination.

A delightful and much sought-after coastal village of stone cottages and Regency houses, on the south coast near St. Austell. Famous for its collection of tall ships riding at anchor in the harbour, the shipwreck museum, excellent pubs and restaurants and easy access to the coastal path, it's the perfect holiday destination. The area is rich in golf courses with Carlyon Bay and Porthpean close by.

There was a great house manual containing everything. The owner was great with her communications. There was extensive quantities of kitchen equipment, far exceeding anywhere, where we have stayed before. We did find one major drawback and we are both 70 years of age , was getting in and out if the bath without a handle. Due to health conditions we both struggled without a rail. We had our bath removed at home and now have a walk in shower. The holiday confirmed where we are with our health conditions. We did not use outside due to poor weather conditions for most if the week. We had the heating turned down as it was too hot for what we are used to. The owner set it at the same times and temperature we had it at home which was excellent

Also a grabrail in the shower area would have been helpful, otherwise a lovely property.
