About this property

Ballinamore 4 miles. This delightful detached cottage sits on the outskirts of the quiet village of Fenagh, County Leitrim, the site of one of the oldest monastic communities in Ireland. Fenagh is surrounded by the crystal clear waters of Lakes Fenagh, Drumlaheen and St. John’s, and only four miles from Ballinamore. This charming cottage is an ideal getaway for friends and families alike and your perfect gateway to the magnificent North West of Ireland. Set in splendid countryside and boasting spacious and bright living accommodation, the cottage is set over two floors with the ground floor bedroom having an en-suite shower room with shower and basin. The further three bedrooms are situated on the first floor. The open plan living space comprising a kitchen, dining area, and a sitting area with a multi-fuel stove, is such a sociable area, ideal for everyone to get together, unwind and relax after what are sure to be busy days, exploring everything this area has to offer. If peace and quiet is more up your street, head into the second sitting area, where you can curl up with a good book in front of a roaring open fire. On a warm and balmy day, step outside and drink in the beautiful countryside that envelops you from every angle. Lush, lawned gardens surround the property and are ideal for the kids to run around and explore while you sit, relax and soak up the sun! There are many wonderful things to enjoy from this cottage. The Fenagh Visitor Centre is well worth a visit where you can explore the heritage of the area, or relax in the cafe whilst the younger members of your party enjoy the soft play area in the Monk's Den. Guests can head to Lough Allen, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, which you can reach in less than half an hour by car. Walk on country roads, through forestry and on open mountains, taking in panoramic views. There is a variety of choices for both the leisurely stroller and most committed hill walker and routes to suit all abilities. Cycling is an ideal way to get out and about and Ballinamore has five mapped cycle loops that run through the town. Whatever time of year you head to this wonderful part of the Emerald Isle, you are guaranteed a scenic and peaceful choice for your Ireland adventure.

Surrounded by 28 lakes, Ballinamore is known as an angler’s paradise. The area is ideal for cyclists, whether you’re a seasoned cyclist or a beginner. Golf enthusiasts are also well-catered for, with a 9-hole and an 18-hole course on offer.

Quiet and peaceful location, will hopefully stay again on our next visit.

The owners were particularly welcoming and helpful and are to be congratulated on the most impressive reconstruction. While the location had all the attributes of a remote site, everything we required was easily accessible in an area that has much to offer inquisitive visitors with an eye for the fine print of history and heritage.

The games room really made it for my 2 teenagers. The local area is beautiful, and also well positioned for trips to Glencar Waterfall (and Alpacas) and Sligo where you can visit Carrowmore Megalithic Cemetery and see a fabulous display of Jack Yeats' Artwork.
