Flooded with natural light, Old Village Barn has been lovingly renovated to a high standard to provide spacious accommodation for a family or group of friends visiting this majestic area in County Galway. Upon entering the barn, you are greeted by a large kitchen/diner, with French doors leading outside to the rear patio, a delightful spot to enjoy a morning coffee whilst you plan your day. The kitchen leads to a bright and airy sitting room featuring a modern woodburning stove; curl up and enjoy an evening here with a good book and a glass of wine, or simply sit back and watch a film together. The barn offers three generous bedrooms, one ground floor king-size, a further king-size and a twin, all with en-suite shower rooms. Admire the surrounding countryside and Lough Derg from the master bedroom’s charming balcony, or take the steps down to the garden and spend time in the sunshine. A short walk from the barn takes you to the tranquil Lough Derg, an excellent location for a lakeside picnic with the family, or why not simply enjoy a relaxing morning fishing? Woodford is within easy reach of Lough Derg and surrounded by woodland and countryside. Set close to the border of County Clare, Woodford has a good selection of amenities housed amongst pretty, pastel coloured buildings. Great fishing can be sought on the Lough Derg, less than a mile from the village, plus wonderful walks lead in every direction. Just an hour's drive away, Galway boasts a comedy clubs, theatres and night clubs. It also is home to festivals, museums and countless cafes, shops and restaurants, all set beside a rugged coastline.

The cottage was in a very quiet spot and only 15 minutes drive to Portumna and an hour from Galway and Limerick cities. Mary Rose was the best host possible; on arrival, she made us truly welcomed and on the kitchen table was a bottle of wine for us. Also, on arrival on a cold February day, the log burner was on which made the spacious home feel even more welcoming and cosy. Our party consisted of grandparents, adult children and partners and 2 infants and it was a fabulous location to spend family time together and also to explore the area individually. All 3 bedrooms were spacious with en-suites and Mary Rose provided 2 travel cots for the little ones. The 2 donkeys in the field behind the cottage were lovely and the grandchildren loved feeding them carrots. We cannot thank her enough for the kind hospitality and interest in ensuring our stay was comfortable. Thank you Mary Rose.

It was amazing: clean, spacious, comfortable, luxurious...what more can I say! They even provided dishwasher salt and rinse aid, that is a first for us, we always take our own. They have thought of every single thing you could possibly ask for. Brilliant
