About this property

With glorious views over the surrounding region, including the impressive Fort Saint-André, Villa Sublime is a stunning contemporary home in a prime position for exploring this captivating part of Provence.

Villa Sublime is located in the heights of the city, in Villeneuve-lez-Avignon, where nobles traditionally built their palaces, sheltered from invaders in the beautiful hills. By contrast, this villa is a modern masterpiece yet it’s still surrounded by the Provençal gardens and ancient olive trees that make this region loved by so many.

As you step out on to your decked terrace the sparkling swimming pool greets you or you may prefer to simply relax in the tranquil grounds seeking shade from the summer sun. Long evenings under the starry sky can be spent in the al-fresco dining area, having cooked up a feast of Provençal delights in the ultra-modern kitchen or gas barbecue.

With air-conditioning throughout, there’s only the very highest level of comfort inside with sumptuous sofas and a wonderful feeling of space and light in the exquisitely furnished living space. The ground-floor master bedroom, overlooking the pretty garden, has a wonderful en-suite with a free-standing bath or head up the impressive open staircase to three more double bedrooms and terraces plus two marvellous Italian shower rooms.

This is a formidable area of Provençal landscapes, idyllic hilltop villages and world renowned towns and markets. On a Saturday you can experience the marvellous Brocante in the town, one of the most famous flea markets in southern France. It’s also just a five minutes drive to beautiful Avignon where you can explore the winding streets, experience the excellent dining opportunities and visit two UNESCO world heritage sites, the Pope’s Palace and Saint Benezet Bridge. There’s horse-riding and some lovely walks nearby plus older kids will love kayaking along the Rhône or Sorgue.

A little further afield you will find the historical city of Nîmes (40km) with its fine collection of Roman remains including the stunning aqueduct, Pont du Gard, now a UNESCO World Heritage site. Or head south to experience the natural beauty of the Camargue, a beautiful combination of land, lagoon and sea with pink flamingos, wild white horses and endless wild countryside.

Whether you are wanting to explore the region to your hearts content or simply potter around nearby markets, cafes and local sights, Villa Sublime is an extraordinary holiday home bring you modern and beautiful style to this much loved ancient area.

Based in the heights of Avignon, in Villeneuve-lez-Avignon, the villa enjoys sweeping views of the region including the impressive Fort Saint-André. It’s a much loved area and in the past nobles built their villas and palaces here, sheltered from view in the hills.  Within a short drive, stroll the cobblestone streets, sample fine wines and oysters or drink coffee under the towering chestnut trees. Don’t miss the famous and brilliant Brocantes market every Saturday morning which attracts the most serious of antique dealers. Just to the south, towards the Rhône, you will find the Collines des Morgues, an enclosed wooded park with marked trails, picnic spots and play areas with lovely views over towards the city.

The small and lively city of Avignon (6km) is just five minutes drive away. Explore the winding medieval streets, experience the excellent dining opportunities and visit two unesco world heritage sites, the Pope’s Palace and Saint Benezet Bridge. The covered market offers all sorts of delights or head to the weekend farmers, flower and flea markets for wonderful local produce and a bargain or two. The bohemian quarter of the city, just next to the Sorgue river, has more of a village atmosphere with its artists, musicians, cafes and wine-bars.

The region is in the heart of this formidable area of vineyards, idyllic hilltop villages, world-renowned towns, and summer landscapes of sunflowers. Gordes (50km) is just one of the beautiful villages worth visiting with stunning architecture, set in the outstanding Luberon region, surrounded by lavender fields in the summer months. Or head south to the heart of the Parc Naturel Regional des Alpilles and the charming town of St-Remy-de-Provence (27km) where you can soak up the true Provencal way of life, especially on markets days.

Wine lovers mustn’t miss out on a visit to Châteauneuf-du-Pape (22km) whilst Van Gogh’s precious Arles (42km) and Baux-de-Provence (35km), one of France’s acclaimed ‘plus beaux villages’ are also within easy reach.

Those looking for activity have so much on their doorstep.

There is both horse-riding and golf within a short drive and both the immediate and wider area are a walkers and cyclists paradise with stunning countryside and landscapes. Older children will love kayaking along the Rhône or Sorgue and there are plenty of other family friendly activities throughout the region from model railways and open castles to trekking across the tree tops and visiting a zoo.

History lovers should also visit the city of Nîmes (42km) with its fine collection of Roman remains including Maison Carree, one of the best preserved Roman temples in the country. Just north of the city is the stunning Roman aqueduct, Pont du Gard, now a unesco World Heritage site.

A beautiful combination of land, lagoon and sea with pink flamingos, wild white horses, rice fields and endless wild countryside, this natural park covers 900 square kilometres of land and beaches.
