About this property

This wonderful four-bedroom villa is located near the lovely village of Saint Gilles, very close to a well-known vineyard. Modern in design with a delightful swimming pool, Petite Camargue is a gorgeous holiday home and the perfect place to relax and enjoy this stunning part of southern France.

Built in 1900, Petite Camargue has been renovated to a high specification and is tastefully decorated with bright and airy interiors. Downstairs the open plan living, dining and kitchen area flow seamlessly to create a wonderful living space. All four of the beautifully decorated bedrooms have a shabby chic style with calming colours perfect for a relaxing night sleep. You’ll also find a luxurious hot tub, an awesome way to relax indoors and a unique addition to this amazing home.

Outside it is breathtakingly beautiful with an inviting swimming pool perfect for taking a dip to cool off from the warm summer sun. Relax on one of the many sun beds or dine al-fresco with loved ones. The garden provides the perfect vantage point to enjoy the lovely views of surrounding vineyards or in the evening you can relax with a glass of local wine under the starry sky.

Saint Gilles, only a 15-minute drive away, is a delightful town where you can visit spectacular abbey, now a UNESCO World Heritage site. It’s the gateway to the Camargue, well known for its natural beauty and wildlife such as pink flamingoes and wild white horses.

The historic cities of Nîmes (22km) and Arles (30km) are also within striking distance or spend a day in cosmopolitan Montpellier in just under an hours drive.

Those longing for the sea can be on the coast within 40 minutes with pretty seaside town and beaches of Sainte-Maries-de-la-Mer nearby. If you’re feeling adventurous, head off the beaten track to find some of Languedoc’s most beautiful, wild beaches backed by beautiful pine trees and endless sand dunes.

Petite Camargue is located in one of the most beautiful areas of France: charming, authentic and unspoilt. You also benefit from being very close to a well regarded vineyard where you can have a tour and sample some fine wines.

The nearby town of Saint Gilles (12km) has all the amenities you need as well as being a delightful place to visit, especially the spectacular abbey, now a unesco World Heritage site.

To the west, the small town of Vauvert (12km) also has a handful of restaurants and some pretty sites such as the clock tower and fountain. A little further by car is the impressive and much visited town of Aigues-Mortes (30km) with its medieval walls and red water lagoons producing superior quality salt.

The surrounding Languedoc countryside is filled with green oaks, micocoulier trees, wild flowers and herbs, fragrant vineyards, rivers and medieval villages.  There are a number of charming rural villages to discover across the Languedoc countryside such as Sommières (31km) and Sauve (58km), not to mention the beautiful cities of Nimes (22km), Arles (30km), Avignon (62km) and Montpellier (57km).

This area is also the gateway to the stunning landscapes and natural beauty of the Camargue, which is just a short drive away. A beautiful combination of land, lagoon and sea with pink flamingos, wild white horses, rice fields and wild countryside and beaches, this natural park covers 900 square kilometres of land. Endless activities can be offered from horse-riding, trekking, quad biking and jeep tours across this diverse and unique area. You can also see the traditional and interesting farms where the Gardiens (cowboys) raise bulls for the bullrings of Languedoc and Spain.

Should you wish to spend a day at the sea the long, sandy beaches of L’Espiguette (45km) are within 45 minutes drive as well as the pretty seaside town and beaches of Sainte-Maries-de-la-Mer (38km). If you go even more off the beaten track you will be able to find some of Languedoc’s most beautiful, wild beaches, many backed by beautiful pine trees and endless sand dunes.

This region is a paradise for outdoor sport lovers: horse-riding, golf, tennis, river/beach swimming, canoeing, trekking and other mountain activities are all available.
