About this property

Set in rolling vineyards with views of the valleys and woods from the magnificent pool terrace, Château Picoron Pavillon is a truly special place to stay. With both the Dordogne river and the idyllic town of Saint-Émilion just minutes away, this elegant holiday home is in the perfect spot for those who love wine, nature and pretty villages or simply just relaxing in stunning surroundings.

The 'pavillon' is the summer residence of the château which, has been exquisitely styled with contemporary features and contrasting classic furnishings, all of the highest standard.  One of the best features of the house has to be the light and airy living space with wide open doors opening out to the south-facing pool terrace with amazing views. The open-air kitchen-diner is modern in style with only the best brands used such as Gaggeneau, Liebherr and Miele, whilst the fine living area allows you to enjoy the glorious vistas in comfort. Four beautiful bedrooms and three immaculate bathrooms make this a wonderful home for family or friends.

It’s a unique experience to stay on a working vineyard and the owner invite you to take a tour and taste the wine, a full bodied Merlot, that is produced on site. The vast grounds include a remarkable château dating back to 1783. It’s the perfect place to take a stroll, ride a bike or find a shady tree to read a book under. That said, it will be hard to tear yourself away from the 25 metre long swimming pool, perfect for keen swimmers whilst kids can splash around in the smaller pool attached. All of this whilst overlooking vineyards and valleys, it is such a magical location.

Keen chefs will love the wood-burning barbecue, ideal for cooking delicious local produce from nearby markets but should you prefer not to cook there are some amazing restaurants in the immediate area, including four with Michelin stars. The nearest village, Castillon-la-Bataille, is on the Dordogne River where you can hire canoes or soak up the historic atmosphere whilst the world famous wine town of Saint-Émilion is just ten minutes by car. This is an area rich in picturesque villages, chateaux and vineyards with prestigious golf courses, tennis and plenty of water and land-based activities nearby.

Buzzing Bordeaux and the enchanting city of Bergerac are both within an hour's drive whilst those yearning for the sea can head to the sweeping beaches of Arcachon for a day on the Atlantic coast.

At the end of the day you can return to the tranquillity of your Pavillon, sample some fine wines and enjoy the magnificent sunsets on a holiday you will remember forever.

Château Picoron Pavillon is located in a beautiful estate including a working vineyard which has been producing wine since the Roman-Gallo times. The estate features a château dating back to 1783 as well as the summer residence, the Pavillon. From the Pavillon’s wonderful terrace guests can enjoy magnificent views of the surrounding vineyards, woods and valley. It’s a fantastic place to stroll around or ride a bike and guests can take a complimentary tour of the vineyards, vat house and barrels rooms with wine tastings included.

Within a short drive you have four Michelin starred restaurants as well as more rustic, traditional yet excellent places to eat. Tennis courts are within 2km, free of charge for guests to use and Grand St Emilionnais Golf Club, one of the top ten golf clubs in France, is ten minutes by car.

There’s an array of activities for all the family in this wonderful region. You can hire canoes on the nearby Dordogne or head to one of the local lakes, such as the beautiful Blasimon (20km) with swimming, fishing and other water activities plus games such as archery, volleyball, boules and tennis. Children will love the little tourist train in Saint-Émilion (10km) that takes you through the town and surrounding vineyards whilst the adults will appreciate the wine-tasting on offer that can be part of the tour!

Saint-Émilion (10km) is an incredibly picturesque town, world-renowned for the vineyards that surround it. Inside the medieval walls you will discover beautiful buildings, lovely squares and steep narrow streets. Saint-Émilion's history goes back to prehistoric times and is a World Heritage site, with fascinating Romanesque Churches, underground catacombs and the wonderful monolithic church made from a single block of stone.

When exploring the Dordogne stop off at Sainte-Foy-La-Grande (27km) to enjoy a coffee in the square, take a walk along the river or if you are around on Saturday morning you will find shopping at the market a real delight. Other pretty highlights include scenic Eynesse (25km) on the river, nearby Jardins de Sardy (20km) and the mosaics in Montcaret (13km). On a Sunday morning venture down to market day in the gorgeous town of Issigeac (60km), riddled with tiny rivers, loved by tourists and locals alike.  Food enthusiasts should also make the time to head north to Periguex (90km) with wonderful Dordogne delicacies on offer such as black truffles.

The city of Bordeaux (50km) is less than an hour away and you can visit the buzzing restaurants, theatres and incredible architecture. Bergerac (50km), much smaller than Bordeaux, has a very enchanting old town that has great individual shops, fountains, cobble stone streets and a traditional market every Wednesday.

We have just come back from a week stay at Chateau Picoron Pavillon and wanted to comment on what an amazing holiday we had at the property. The manager, was incredibly friendly and helpful and we appreciated her help with organising our trip. The Chateau was beautiful, even better than the pictures made it look! It was well equipped and in an excellent location for exploring the local area. The outside pool/lounging area was just picturesque, with stunning views across the vineyards. We also wanted to thank Natalie who gave us a very informative tour round Chateau Picoron Pavillon's vineyard/wine cellars - tasting their own wine was a real treat! We would recommend this property to anyone - we had an incredible stay!
