Villa Kyriakou is a modern three-bedroomed villa in the pretty village of Pernera on Cyprus’s east coast. The villa is just 300 metres from the nearest sandy beaches – including secluded bays with calm waters that are perfect for swimming or snorkelling – and a two-minute walk to shops and restaurants.Wander along the bustling harbour, quench your thirst for adrenaline windsurfing or just watch the world go by with a cooling drink at one of the charming waterfront restaurants.
When you get back to the villa, comfort and calm awaits. The light-coloured décor is soothing, and there are plenty of places to relax, including a large grey corner sofa dotted with colourful cushions in the open-plan living, kitchen and dining room. Fully-equipped for a self-catering stay, the kitchen has all the appliances you’ll need for eating in, and there’s also a dining table to seat up to six. From this bright space, doors lead straight to the outdoor terrace where there’s a generously-sized garden and private swimming pool. Relax under the shaded veranda, soak in the warm Mediterranean sunshine on a sun lounger or eat your freshly-cooked barbeque food on the alfresco dining table.
Upstairs, you’ll find the three bedrooms. The master bedroom has an en-suite bathroom while the second and third bedrooms have a double bed and a balcony. All bedrooms have fitted wardrobes and bedside cabinets – so there’s plenty of space to store your belongings – and there’s also a family bathroom with a bath on this floor – ideal for unwinding in after a busy day ox exploring. Less than a ten-minute walk from family-friendly beaches and amenities in Pernera and a short drive from the livelier resort town of Protaras, Villa Kyriakou is an ideal base for a family holiday in Cyprus.
Villa Kyriakou is in Pernera, a pretty village on the east coast of Cyprus. There’s a main street that sweeps right down to the sea where there are several bays. With their soft sandy shores and calm clear waters they’re the perfect place to swim, snorkel or relax. Plus, water sports lovers can rejoice because there’s plenty of opportunities to take part in activities like wind surfing, jet skiing or parasailing. Pernera also has a harbour lined with waterfront restaurants.
There’s everything from traditional Cypriot mezes to international food. You can catch a boat trip from there too to explore the unspoilt coastline. Several organised sea fishing trips so you could even catch your own dinner.
Pernera is a five-minute drive from Protaras. The resort town is renowned for its beautiful beaches and pretty town centre. Head to popular Fig Tree Bay for swimming and snorkelling in calm, crystal-clear waters. There’s also an island there you can swim out to and a boardwalk you can walk along. In the centre of Protaras, snap pictures of the Venetian architecture and pretty pastel houses, wander the cobbled streets or browse the shops for locally-crafted souvenirs and fresh produce.
For trips slightly further afield, the ghost town of Varosha with its abandoned buildings is a must see. It’s about 40 minutes away. The protected nature park area of Cape Greco with its pine-tree lined forest trails is also an excellent place to visit. There’s a small whitewashed chapel in the park, a lighthouse and the ruined foundations of an ancient temple devoted to Aphrodite. At the Eastern edge is Konnos Bay, a breathtakingly beautiful beach with crystal clear waters fringed by pine trees. With its underwater sea caves too, Cape Greco is also a hot spot for snorkellers and scuba divers.
For more family-friendly beaches and exciting nightlife, Ayia Napa is just around the headland from Protaras. The town has a picturesque Venetian-era Ayia Napa Monastery, a water park and a colourful harbour with waterfront restaurants, bars and clubs.
