About this property

Located on the Dalmatian Coast at Jesenice, Villa Horvat enjoys a magnificent sea view and looks out towards the island of Brač. With its own infinity pool and hot tub, it offers a stylish outdoor lifestyle to up to nine guests, in a quiet location just a short walk from the beach.

A large covered terrace area provides a lounge corner and dining area, located right next to the barbecue and outdoor kitchen. The wonderful infinity pool is spacious at 8m x 4m, and the separate hot tub is the perfect place to unwind at the end of the day. Children will love the wendy house, trampoline and slide provided just for them.

Inside, a glass wall gives you a great view of the pool area from the lounge, equipped with TV, banquette and comfy armchairs, and another dining area seats eight and is elegantly lit by a chandelier. A few steps away, you are bound to be charmed by the cute kitchen with blue units, island and all the appliances you may need, including a coffee machine, dishwasher and microwave.

You will find a family bathroom and twin bedroom with bunks on this floor, while upstairs you have two bedrooms with a king-size bed, TV, air-conditioning and terrace, and another with twin beds. One of the king-size rooms also includes an en suite and a sofa-bed which can accommodate a further two guests. There is another bathroom on this level, too.

The villa has a small supermarket around 800m away, and the nearest restaurant is around 2km. It should only take around 10 minutes to drive into Omiš, an attractive town on the River Cetina which offers plenty of historic sights, sporting activities and dining opportunities. On the way, look out for the lovely beaches of Dugi Rat and Duće. A little further up the coast in the opposite direction, Split is Croatia’s magnificent second city and lives up to its reputation with stunning landmarks, a cool waterfront and lots of visitor attractions. Sitting on the Dalmatian coast between Split and Omiš, level with the beautiful island of Brač just across the water, Jesenice incorporates three villages – Krilo, Orij and Suhi Potok. It’s still a pretty small place even then, but that doesn’t stop it being one of the most picturesque spots on the coast. The breathtaking sea view from the coastal road could easily distract you.

Jesenice has a smattering of places to eat and drink, but its main attraction is probably its wooden ships which used to work hard extracting sand from the River Cetina and River Neretva. These days, it’s all about pleasure cruises, and a trip on one of these ships, or ‘salbunjera’, makes a lovely way to discover the considerable delights of the region’s coast.

It all feels a world away from busy Split, but that city is only 17km from Jesenice. This is the region’s hub for culture, entertainment and landmark sights like the Diocletian Palace and the impressive Ivan Meštrović Gallery. The town’s old walls now contain countless fine restaurants, lively bars and interesting shops – and organised walking tours can guide you through the historical sights like Gothic palaces and medieval fortresses.

Less than 10km from Jesenice, Omiš is a popular destination in its own right. A combination of beautiful beaches, towering fortresses, cultural events and laid-back café lifestyle offers more than enough reason to visit, and water-sports lovers and other adventurous types will find activities to challenge and invigorate them by the dozen. If you’re taking young children, the (actually quite scary but less-so now) pirate history of Omiš will be hard to ignore – they’re sure to love hopping aboard for a Pirate Night tour.
