The Roman ruins are remarkable. It is pleasant walking around amongst olive groves, orchards and flowering shrubs to view everything in the park.

Split is the most amazing city. It is a seafront gem combining honeycombs of unique, historical buildings, such as the Diocletian’s Palace, with a cosmopolitan, palm-lined promenade. The atmospheric, narrow streets are brimming with majestic monuments, delicious restaurants, cafes, bars and higgledy-piggledy shops. It has such a laid-back vibe though it throbs with activity. The main city beach, Bacvice, is family-friendly during the day and becomes a popular night-time jaunt in the evening. Split’s bustling nightlife is renowned, with many nightclubs.

Split is also the main transport point for the region so you can easily take trips to the stunning islands of Hvar, Vis and Brac. It is certainly worth exploring this string of Croatian pearls. Hvar is glitzy and the chosen destination of the chic and rich with fabulous hotels and a marina full of luxury yachts. Brac is beautiful and home to the famous Zlatni Rat Beach at Bol which adorns most Croatia holiday posters. The beach is absolutely incredible and the sea so stunning with its variety of blue colours. Vis, the furthest away, is a gorgeous, remote, craggy island with a laid-back rural vibe.

Also worth a trip from this location, is another gem Trogir. It is a wonderful walled city, again with lovely historical buildings. Cipiko Palaces and St. Lawrence Cathedral are remarkable. On summer nights everyone leaves the knotted, maze-like, marble streets and gravitates to the graceful, promenade lined with cafes, bars, restaurants and luxury yachts.

In the other direction, Omis is known as the city of pirates as it is situated at the mouth of the Cetina River. Omis is home to many churches, and old Franciscan monastery and the Fortress Starigrad. The Klapa Festival in summer is such fun with acapella singing in churches and squares in the old town. The Cetina River has so many attractions. The Villa
