About this property

A perfectly quaint and traditional villa located in a charming and traditional village, Villa Vinika is a beautifully rejuvenated home for a restful holiday in a tranquil setting.

Built almost 100 years ago, in 1930, the villa holds so much historic charm and elegance, with a majestic exterior, stone perimeter and inviting interior. Thanks to a dazzling refurbishment in 2016, the home also offers guests endless touches of luxury and comfort.

Inside you will find a complimentary array of authentic and somewhat rustic furniture and décor, alongside all kinds of modern amenities. There are a large kitchen and living room in open plan design, with tons of space and facilities for you to enjoy.

There are two delightful bedrooms, one with a breath-taking four poster bed with flowing white drapes and a high wooden frame. The second bedroom also has a double bed and soft lilac furnishings.

Both rooms are on the first floor, alongside a large family bathroom with a bathtub. On the ground floor, there is a second bathroom with a shower. Both are modern and tasteful.

The wonders of the villa come alive as you step outside onto the terrace. The vast pool sits boldly in the middle of the terrace, occupying an enormous amount of space and offering an ideal spot to get in a few morning laps, a cooling dip in the afternoon, or perhaps even a skinny dip in the evening! Who knows? There’s undoubtedly the privacy to enjoy it however you like.

There is also a large stone barbeque, perfect for spicing up meal times! And a lovely table outside where you can dine alfresco. To one side of the pool is a set of chairs and a coffee table, while on the other is a cosy relaxation area, with sofas and cushioned chairs and a parasol.

Of course, there are many sun loungers for your sun-bathing needs, and an outdoor shower to save you a trip indoors – allowing you never to miss a ray of sunshine!

Ideally situated in the quiet village of Hrboki, the villa is just half an hour away from Učka Nature Park, a sprawling protected area with hiking routes leading to canyons, waterfalls and historic sites, ensuring you’ll find unspoilt nature a stone’s throw away.

In fact, one-third of the Istrian territory is forested, and the rest is carpeted with vineyards, olive trees, pastures and orchards, with ancient walled cities perched atop hills in the mountainous landscape, so you need merely stroll out of your front door to find the richness of Istria.

Less than 20-minutes away is Labin, once the most significant mining centre of Croatia and now an art haven filled with galleries! The town overlooks the bay of Rabač, an Istrian paradise with a pebble beach and crystal-clear waters, and the perfect place to try a little snorkelling, swimming and diving!

The largest city in the region is Pula, brimming with history and magnificent architecture. In early September the city comes alive with music and cultural events, many hosted in its ancient Roman Amphitheatre!

A very short drive from Pula, on the very southern tip of Istria, is the Kamenjak National Park where you can follow the ‘Dinosaur Path’ to discover dinosaur footprints and admire stunning views over the bay.

A charming heart-shaped peninsula in the north-west of Croatia, Istria is warm, welcoming and perfectly-sized – you can drive the length in around an hour, putting everything within easy reach!

From breath-taking scenery, rich history and a world-famous culinary scene – you will find it all in Istria! As a former part of the Venetian Republic, this region has seen many rulers from the Romans, Byzantines and Austro-Hungarians to the Italians and Yugoslavians. Now, a myriad of enchanting towns and villages, rich in history and culture, are nestled among the undulating countryside.

Active holiday-makers will be delighted with the offerings: from windsurfing in Medulin to scuba diving in the Brijuni National park and rock climbing, hang-gliding and walking in Buzet along the 15km ‘seven waterfalls’ walk, Istria has it all.

Both along the dramatic coastal paths and in the mountains inland, you will find an abundance of natural paths for cycling (including the scenic Parenzana route over an old railway line from Viznada to the Slovenian border) and rugged off-road hiking trails.

Much like its neighbouring Italy, Istria is a gastronome’s paradise, home to world-class cuisine and endless rows of vineyards. Be sure to try the local wines, which are often sweet and fruity, using a wide variety of grapes including white Malvasia, red Terrano and Moscato. Istria is especially famous for its truffles, which you will find served with any dish and sauce!

Truffle flavoured olive oil is a typical product of the region, and indeed, you will hardly find a village which does not have its own Olive oil ‘supermarket’! There’s even one in the town!

Both Rijeka and Pula have international airports within a short drive of the villa, while Pula is the central hub for those getting ferries, although there is daily ferry between Poreč and Venice.
