About this property

Villa Laelia is a magnificent, seafront villa situated near Soline, just 6km north of the ancient harbour town of Cavtat. Boasting panoramic views over the glittering Adriatic Sea and offering an alluring range of features, Villa Laelia is the ultimate in mediterranean luxury. The villa sleeps 10 making it ideal for a large group or family holiday.

The villa’s design is innovative and striking. The Dalmatian limestone walls blend in beautifully with the surrounding scenery and the atmosphere is peaceful and relaxed.  The villa leads directly down to a picturesque beach cove and visitors will relish this close proximity to the sea. Villa Laelia is surrounded by an extremely pretty arcadia of olives groves and pine trees - such an abundance of natural beauty on all sides guarantees a wonderful sense of seclusion and privacy.

Inside the villa’s décor is elegant and refined. The living spaces are large and airy and are perfectly complemented by stylish furnishings and tasteful art. On the ground floor there is a well-appointed living/dining room with a dining table large enough for the whole group. It is in this stunning space that guests will socialise and indulge in long and scrumptious meals. The ground floor also offers a lovely fireplace in front of which guests can curl up with a book on those chillier evenings. The ground floor kitchen is state-of-the-art and provides all the necessary appliances for those visitors wanting to try their hand at a local recipe or two! The villa’s first floor is made up of two bedrooms, one bathroom and a second kitchen and living room. Such a plethora of living spaces is ideal for those larger parties or groups consisting of families requiring separate amenities and privacy.

The four bedrooms on the second and third floor are all about space and light . All lead on to the splendid terraces and balconies that encircle the property on all three floors. The master-suite on the third floor also has private access to the wonderful spa-room which has both an excellent sauna and a jacuzzi. Such a luxurious array of facilities ensures guests will be relaxed and pampered at all times whilst staying at Villa Laelia.

Outside, the villa continues to dazzle. There is a stunning infinity pool fitted with handsome roman steps and a striking water-fall feature. Next to the pool is a delightful pool pagoda and seating area where guests can play board games or simply gaze out to sea. There is also an excellent al-fresco dining area with a barbecue on which guests can cook freshly caught fish and dine under the stars.

Villa Laelia is situated next the small village of Soline, just a 10-minute drive from the enchanting and ancient harbour town of Cavtat (6.4 km). Dubrovnik, commonly known as the ‘pearl of the Adriatic,’ is also easily accessible by car or ferry (18 km).

Nearby Cavtat is an utter gem of a town. Founded in the mists of antiquity by the ancient Greeks, this beautiful settlement is a beguiling mix of striking natural scenery and charming cobbled streets and houses. The terracotta roofs and creamy hues of the town are wonderfully offset by lush mediterranean fauna and vines that grow in abundance. Cavtat is situated on the wooded ‘Rat Peninsula’, which is bordered on both sides by two sparkling bays, ensuring that you are never far from the sea. Along the peninsula’s shore, visitors will find quiet pebble beaches and shady coves, the air rich with the scent of pine and cyprus trees. The harbour of Cavtat itself is comprised of a colourful waterfront cluster of lively local restaurants offering a variety of freshly caught fish and delicious organic wine.

Cavtat’s 20th century incarnation was as a coastal retreat for Croatia’s most promising artists and this heritage is still very much reflected in the town today. Visitors should be sure to visit the Racic family Mausoleum, designed and decorated by the illustrious sculptor Ivan Mestrovic. The house of the Croatian painter Vlaho Bukavic and the 16th century Rector’s Palace also exhibit eclectic art collections.

Cavtat’s rich and varied past is also accessible to all those who saunter through the Renaissance Old Town. Those in search of sandy beaches should head to Zal, one kilometre east of the town centre where there are some beautiful coves.

Villa Laelia is also approximately half an hours drive south of the unesco heritage city of Dubrovnik. Described by George Bernard Shaw as ‘paradise on earth,’ Dubrovnik is frequently spoken of as one of the most beautiful cities on the planet. Once the prosperous capital of the ancient republic of Ragusa, Dubrovnik is a maze of aristocratic piazzas, baroque churches and medieval fortresses. It is a resplendent example of an archaic walled city and provided the setting for much of the popular ‘Game of Thrones’ series. It is also home to the oldest arboretum in the world as well as Europe’s third oldest pharmacy. Visitors must be sure to visit the city’s ‘Rectors palace’ as well as the fascinating Maritime museum. A trip up Mount Srd on the city’s cable car is also an unforgettable experience.
