    About this property

With an uncrowded beach, Newbiggin-by-the-Sea is a great place to enjoy a peaceful, relaxing seaside break.
Seaspray is a beautifully furnished, contemporary house and is only 100 yards from the promenade in Newbiggin-by-the-Sea, which stretches the length of the pretty sweeping bay, with the Maritime Centre and lifeboat house at one end, and the listed building of the Italian ice cream shop in the centre. The local beach remains uncrowded all year round, ideal for picnics and rock-pooling. Set on a small development, this semi-detached house offers contemporary and welcoming accommodation for couples, friends or small families. The house also has a small enclosed garden, ideal for relaxing in after a day out.

Set in the bay is the ’Couple’ by Sean Henry, a popular attraction being the only current, east coast offshore sculpture. Regular exhibitions and music events are held in the Maritime Centre, where the café overlooks the lovely bay. Newbiggin has friendly Italian and Indian restaurants, and a selection of cafés and small shops. A local bus stops practically at the door, where a discounted weekly bus ticket takes you all around the county.

The road structure means easy access to the Northumberland Heritage Coast, Kielder Water and the Border counties. The pretty historic market town of Morpeth is only 8 miles, with a lovely selection of eateries, bespoke shops and a railway station where trains can be taken to Edinburgh or York for a different type of day out. Take a trip to Newcastle upon Tyne, with the vibrant Quayside, Baltic Centre and fine architecture, Alnwick Castle, famous for Harry Potter and Downton Abbey scenes, is only 24 miles away, where you can spend a few hours exploring the castle, gardens and cobbled streets. Hadrian’s Wall is easily accessible in under an hour, where you can explore Roman forts or visit The Sill. Beach 100 yards. Shop 200 yards, pub 250 yards and restaurant ¼ mile.

"We had a very relaxing and enjoyable two weeks stay at Seaspray. The house was warm , comfortable, clean and very well equipped. The designated parking spaces are very convenient and work well. The neighbours were very friendly. Being so near to the sea was great and provided us with a nice stroll most days. The Maritime centre at the far end of the promenade has an interesting museum and a good coffee shop. Seaspray is ideally situated for exploring the coast with Bamburgh Castle a "must-see". There are plenty of nice drives if you want to travel inland. Buses also pass the door regularly. Great fortnight, even the weather was kind to us.Thank you."

"The house was beautifully furnished to a very high standard. Very clean when we arrived and a bottle of wine from the owner was a welcome touch. As it was our first time in Northumberland we did a lot of sightseeing and it was so nice to return to such a lovely house after a fair bit of driving. It’s location of being a 100 metres or so from the promenade was lovely and we walked there at some point every day. You also have a view of the sea from the lounge albeit between the detached houses opposite. The owners were very helpful and were keen to ensure we were satisfied with the property.Whilst Newbiggin itself leaves a little to be desired we found it to be a nice base from which to operate to see Northumberland although being in the very south it does mean a bit of driving to explore many parts. This in no way detracted from the place as the coastal routes north from there are a pleasure to drive. Whilst we did not try too many eateries in Newbiggin we would recommend the Italian restaurant “Due Fretalli” in Newbiggin as very good and excellent value and we ate there twice. We visited Alnwick Castle and Gardens, Roman Vindolanda and the Roman army museum at Hadrian’s Wall, Lindisfarne and Banburgh Castle and Kielder Water and Forest amongst other places and really enjoyed them all. Whilst we had some rain overall the weather was kind which allowed us to appreciate the beauty of Northumberland. There are so many places to visit and we will undoubtedly return and would love to stay at this lovely house again."

"Lovely house, would stay there again. Corner shop only a minutes walk away for basics, with a larger shop a minutes drive. Chippy on the corner as well but we didn't use it."

"A beautiful house, well-suitated close to the beach with local shops in easy walking distance (under 5 minutes). The kitchen is fully-equipped, the lounge cosy and both bedrooms are comfortable with plenty of storage space. Wi-Fi and Freeview both included. The owner was friendly and easy to communicate with. Highly recommend."

"A lovely holiday home. ..the best we have stayed in. A useful welcome pack of coffee, tea and a bottle of wine. It is well equipped, with everything you could need. ...even tablets for the dishwasher and washing machine! The location is perfect, less than a minute's walk from the seafront and beach. There is a visitor centre, with a cafe. Newbiggin is well placed to visit Northumberland, as well as being only 30 minutes from the centre of Newcastle. Will definitely recommend it to family and friends, and we will definitely stay again."
