About this property

If you're looking for a relaxing holiday in a beautiful property set within breathtaking scenery, then Millcroft is the ideal location. This stone-built, traditional Lakeland cottage is bursting with charm and character, with its original beamed ceilings and an open fire making it a welcoming and homely place to stay all year round. The cottage has two bedrooms: a double room, with king-size bed, which offers stunning views over to the fells, and a twin room, where the beds can be made into a super king-size. There is also a family bathroom. On the ground floor, the cosy sitting room has original beams and an open fire, and the kitchen is well-equipped. Outside, there is a beautifully kept lawn area with seating, making it the perfect place to relax and enjoy the tranquility of nature. There is also a secure garden shed, making this a brilliant property for the active and adventurous, who want peace of mind when storing mountain bikes or other outdoor equipment. This cottage has a wealth of things to see and do on its doorstep. The village of Glenridding offers a range of pubs, restaurants, shops and cafes, but it still retains the charm of a secret escape, as it is not one of the more crowded areas of the Lakes. It's only a short walk to the shores of Ullswater, arguably the Lake District's most spectacular lake, with Glenridding sitting right at its southern tip. Ullswater has plenty of activities to offer. A relaxing cruise around the lake on an Ullswater Steamers is a popular option, or the more energetic can choose to get off the boat at Pooley Bridge, Howtown or Air Force and enjoy a walk back to Glenridding along the shores. Boat hire is also available from the village and Helvellyn and Striding Edge are nearby - two of the most spectacular peaks in the national park. This delightful cottage is full of character and is set in the most perfect location for families, couples and adventure seekers to enjoy their Lake District stay. It has all the facilities needed for you to enjoy a relaxing break and to make the most of the surrounding areas.

Glenridding is set in beautiful countryside and framed by delightful Lakeland hills. The village is relatively less frequented by high influxes of tourists which often crowd the central areas of the Lake District yet has a good range of restaurants, shops, pub's and cafe's. Ullswater steamers offer a relaxing steam cruise around the lake or for the more energetic you can disembark at Pooley Bridge, Aira Force and Howtown and walk back to the village along the shores or on higher ground via Place Fell. Stunning views of Ullswater can be admired from the peak of Helvellyn and Striding Edge.

A great location and excellent opportunities to get out on the fells without needing to move the car.

Recommend the Travellers Rest for friendly pub food. The real fire was great on cold nights, remember to take wood and firelighters with you. The beds were comfortable and the pressure of the shower was great, only down side were the steep stairs after a long walk, but the bath soon relieved weary legs.looking forward to our next visit Lovely gesture with the mince pies and prosseco for celebrating new year.

Obviously we are satisfied with the property as we have returned and may do so again although as pensioners we find the stairs rather steep. The cottage is clean and comfortable and everything seems to work fine. We noticed one cup has a large crack and needs replacing - we just did not use it. Whilst the cottage is a comfortable base to return to it does not have extensive views, only glimpses of the fell tops, so might not suit someone who likes to remain at the property in the daytime. Also parking is tight and the owner of a large vehicle might have some issues. Overall we would recommend this property.
