    About this property

This cosy single storey, end terraced cottage for two is situated in a quiet lane overlooking fields in the pretty hamlet of Thrumster. S84669 is attractively presented throughout. A pretty cottage garden leads up to the front door opening to the main living room. Large windows look out across the open fields to the loch beyond. There is a good-sized double bedroom and a bright contemporary kitchen and shower room. The cottage is ideally located for couples to explore this fascinating and unspoilt area of northern Scotland. Although Thrumster is a small hamlet, it has a thriving old stone pub and restaurant serving meals all year round, which is just a short walk from the property. The rear garden is fully enclosed and has outdoor furniture for al fresco dining. The immediate area has some of the richest archaeological remains in the UK, notably from the Neolithic and Iron Ages.
There are some fascinating walks and trails to discover, with Iron Age ‘brochs’ and settlements, while nearby Freswick is noted for its Viking settlements. A short walk from the cottage leads down to Sarclet on the coast. This is a haven for wildlife, with numerous sea birds, and even whales and dolphins have been spotted along the coastline, and puffin and seal colonies offer further interest to the wildlife enthusiast. There are numerous places of interest and sporting activities in the area. The nearby village of Lybster has an interesting past, built at the height of the 19th century herring boom, with its pretty harbour and beach and is well worth a visit. This coast has some of the most outstanding beaches to be found anywhere. Fishing, golf, horse riding, kayaking, sailing, mountain biking and wildlife watching are all enjoyed locally. A day trip to Orkney is a must, and regular trips run from John O’Groats to explore these incredible islands, and the crossing is quick and spectacular. Beach 3 miles. Shop 5 miles, pub and restaurant ¼ mile.

"I had a great holiday. House is well equipped and clean. There was a welcome basket and milk with tea/coffee and sugar. WiFi is good enough to use a fire stick for netflix."
    Michelle ‐ 10 Aug 2018
"Had a lovely stay in Greenfield cottage and it was perfect for exploring the east coast and some of the North. Had everything we needed and a super comfy bed so we were rested well for more exploring the next day."

"Very Good location for us with Family nearby in Wick, the Pub around the corner is a bonus. As a amateur Fly Fisher the nearby lakes were very convenient.Visiting the Caithness coastline was also a joy, such a lot to see. Inland the 2000 year old Brochs are fascinating. We will be back."

"Very quiet location with pleasant view to the front. Only a few minutes walk to the pub/restaurant but it often was very busy and booking was necessary. Eating space arrangement - in the kitchen - was very limited. Cottage clean and very well equipped. Easy drive into Wick for general shopping. Lots of places of historic interest within relatively close proximity. A day trip to Orkney is well worth the effort. (We never go to the same place twice - that is why we would not 'stay again'."

"While not quite a cottage, Greenfield Cottage has everything you could ask for, and in a very quiet location only a couple of miles from the sea and Wick. The welcome pack was excellent and kept me in tea bags for the week."

"Cottage was fabulous...a home from home...everything that we would want in a holiday cottage. In fact the wi-fi service and amount of channels available on the telly was much better than we have experienced in all the other properties that we have holidayed in with your company. Usually in the evening we use our amazon fire stick and watch Netflix ( providing there is a good enough wi-fi which in some properties is non-existent although advertised) but that was not necessary on this trip. We would highly recommend this property for a quiet getaway with a pub on your doorstep and a good shopping and eating out area 5 miles away and a lovely area to explore. LOVED IT!!!!!"

"We used this cottage to visit family. Lovely welcome basket left for us and facilities are good. Smell of paint as recently decorated but none of the window vents opened as varnished up so only way to air the property was to open windows or doors and as it was snowing not possible."
