Nearby Helston, the gateway to the Lizard Peninsula, is great for picking up everyday provisions or visiting the traditional pubs and inns. Porthleven, a pretty fishing port on the south coast, is now a recognised foodie destination. It is also home to several galleries, shops and coffee houses. For delightful fishing villages, pretty coves, sandy beaches and amazing walking, visit Kynance Cove, Mullion, Coverack or Cadgwith for postcard prettiness. Forming the northern boundary to the Lizard Peninsula is the Helford River offering a Swallows and Amazons landscape of wooded valleys and creeks with boat trips/hire available.
