A cream electric wood-burner style fire provides a cosy focal point for cooler winter evenings. A dining area positioned adjacent to patio doors leads into the garden and there is a well equipped country-style kitchen. The three well-appointed bedrooms share a pristine bathroom and separate shower room. On the edge of the village of Goonhavern, a little under three miles from Perranporth, this is an ideal base for an action-packed family holiday. Countryside walks can commence from the doorstep and there are numerous beautiful beaches in the region, Perranporth being just over 3 miles with lifeguard cover during the summer and safe for bathing. For overcast days, head to the Eden Project, Camel Creek Adventure Park or Newquay Zoo, all within roughly a half hour drive. Newquay is just four miles and the city of Truro is 10 miles should you be in need of some retail therapy. For a fun-filled family holiday or central base to explore, Holly Barn is a choice pick at any time of year.

Perranporth, a beautiful Cornish coastal town, lies in the heart of Poldark Country, the setting for the novels of Winston Graham who lived in Perranporth in the 1930s. Perranporth offers plenty of traditional pubs and shops, plus a classic bucket-and-spade beach that is lifeguarded in summer, overlooked by craggy rocks and a wonderful coastal path. Once known as the source of the finest tin, the community still retains reminders of the rich heritage with abandoned pump houses, mine shafts and workers’ cottages. The local Blue Hills Museum and Perranzabuloe Folk Museum are both well worth a visit to understand the fascinating history of this coastal area. Further afield are the miles of sandy beaches at Crantock and Holywell Bay, and the breathtaking coastal walks around St Agnes, much of it owned by the National Trust. A perfect holiday base in Cornwall, with an abundance of activities to suit everyone.
