About this property

Set in a peaceful and tranquil location, this stone, converted barn combines rustic charm with modern accommodation close to the town of Penzance on the westerly tip of Cornwall. Found at the end of a winding lane the cottage is perfect for those who wish to escape their busy lives. Admire the far reaching views from the character-filled double bedroom on the first floor. Downstairs there is a single bedroom with vaulted beams, a well equipped kitchen and a comfortable sitting area where you can throw open the French doors and enjoy alfresco dining on the patio area within the garden. This romantic escape enjoys countryside living and the south facing garden affords views across the moorlands and out to St Michael's Mount and the Lizard Peninsula on a clear day. Nature lovers will enjoy rambling along the paths leading out to a rugged terrain amongst heather and moorland flowers. For horse-riding enthusiasts, this is a perfect area for going out on a relaxing hack and if you are a horse owner, you can bring your trusty steed as there are livery facilities nearby. The superb white sandy beaches and winding lanes of St Ives is within easy driving distance and definitely worth a visit. Nearby Penzance is steeped in history with monuments and historic sites but also offers dramatic beaches, cliff top walks and a good selection of shops, restaurants, bars and cafés. A wonderful choice where you can choose to relax in the countryside or explore this fascinating and beautiful area of Cornwall.

The most westerly major town in Cornwall, Penzance faces the shores of Mount’s Bay, the famous St Michael's Mount rising from the sea in its centre. A bustling harbour town with quaint streets lined with shops and cafes and a promenade stretching towards the fishing port of Newlyn. Known for its mild year-round climate, palm trees and tropical plants thrive here and are best viewed at the beautiful sub tropical Morrab Gardens, close to the town centre. Popular with photographers, the art deco Jubilee seawater pool should not be missed for a dip in summer months. Home to the Georgian Theatre built around 1786, the theatre is thought to be one of the oldest Georgian theatres in the country. Golowan Festival is held in Penzance each June – a ten day festival with carnivals, music and dance. Penzance is an ideal base for exploring the far south west of Cornwall, with St Ives and Carbis bay a short drive.

The house is of a high standard and extremely clean and cosy. Plenty of everything needed for our stay, as 'Take a ways' are not an option, so home cooking is easy. We love the peace and quiet and the night skies. The views are amazing over the fields with Mounts Bay beyond. The surrounding countryside is really great for walking, throwing in so much history. The locals are great to chat to, a feeling of inclusion. Clotted cream tea on arrival is a nice touch. Thanks very much to you all.
