About this property

This superb detached traditional cottage is situated in the grounds of the owners’ home, just a two minute walk from the village of Newtyle and close to both the town of Kirriemuir and the city of Dundee. In a quiet location, this property is an ideal base for a couple or small family wishing to explore this part of Scotland with the coast and the Cairngorms National Park within reach. As you enter this delightful holiday home you will find the kitchen with small dining area on the left, a great place to eat breakfast or a quick meal before venturing out, perhaps to enjoy a long walk or cycle ride. There’s a shower room also on the ground floor with a more formal dining room, before relaxing in the wonderful sitting room in front of the cosy woodburning stove. Is there a better way to end the day than to snuggle up with your loved ones whilst the flames of the stove flicker away? Upstairs and completing the accommodation in this charming cottage are two delightful bedrooms; a double and a twin, together with a bathroom. Outside is off road parking and a large rear lawned garden, where your pet dogs can use up any excess energy whilst you unwind after another fun-filled day in this part of Scotland. The village of Newtyle has a shop, pub and Post Office, as well as an award-winning butcher. Whilst staying at this lovely cottage a visit to Glamis Castle is a must and aside from walks and cycling you can enjoy fishing and golf in the area. An excellent holiday home with plenty to see and do in the area. EPC Rating: Band F

The village of Newtyle is situated equal distance between the town of Kirriemuir and the city of Dundee. Newtyle has a shop, Post Office, a pub, church and an award-winning butcher. It's very airy and the lounge is very comfortable. Enclosed, private garden at the back, morning sunshine front and back, but plenty of shade can be found at the back in the afternoon. You can be straight out of the gate and onto a number of paths, ideal for dog walking. Or, you are on the western outskirts of the Sidlaw Hills and with Pitlochry and Braemar being just over an hour's drive away you are in a good location for more serious hill walking. Newtyle itself, a small, quiet friendly village, small well stocked post office / general shop ( bigger supermarkets, 20 minutes drive away), award winning butchers ( Piries, 'World Champion' pies and sausages!) and small, clean, friendly pub, The Commercial with good 'join in' acoustic music sessions, Wednesday nights. Andrea and Peter, owners of the Lodge, very friendly, considerate, helpful but very respectful too of your privacy. Our thanks to them. Overall, Bannatyne Lodge a wonderful place to stay for a quiet, relaxed holiday on the outskirts of a village which is a great place for easier local walks but with easy access to coast and mountain.
