About this property

Ulverston 2 miles. Green Hills Farm is a superb semi-detached cottage with a hot tub and plenty of home comforts, situated on a working livestock farm, two miles from the market town of Ulverston. Presented to a high standard, this cottage is ideally suited for friends and family wishing to enjoy time together close to the vibrant town of Ulverston and the fantastic areas of the Lake District. Set over two floors, there are four spacious bedrooms as well as a family bathroom and shower room. On the ground floor there is a large sitting room with electric fire to relax in front of and a good sized dining room, great to enjoy a delicious meal together that has been prepared in the well-equipped kitchen. Outside there are patio areas at both the front and rear, whilst just across the parking area is a lawned garden with views across the fields. Here you can watch the local wildlife including deer and birds, and if you're lucky you may catch sight of the barn owl. Ulverston has a host of shops, restaurants, an indoor market. Explore the southern tip of Coniston Water and the east of the Lake passing through Nibthwaite catching glimpses of “Wild Cat Island”, Peel Island as featured in Swallows and Amazons. There are lots of places to park up and wander through the woods and along the shore. Further up is Brantwood, the home of John Ruskin, where you can enjoy the landscaped gardens with views across to the Coniston Fells and a tasty afternoon tea in their tearoom. On the other side of Coniston Water you can hire kayaks and rowing boats and even participate on sailing courses and stand up paddle boarding. Grizedale Forest is also close by with lots of tracks and trails to explore, both on foot or on a bike, whilst there is also Go Ape for the more adventurous. At the end of the day, return to your countryside cottage and enjoy the rural location. A lovely cottage at any time of the year.

The market town of Ulverston holds a street market every Thursday and Saturday. Today it’s well known as a festival town with events throughout the year. One of the town’s great claims to fame is as the birthplace of Stan Laurel - it is now home to the only Laurel and Hardy museum in the world! Facilities include a wide range of shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs. Ulverston still has an authentic feel and community spirit.

Enjoyed the wine & grandchildren devoured yummy cake on arrival. Thank you. Large & comfortable with all things needed, provided & thank god for the dishwasher! Steve gave me directions for the local shore, fantastic. Needed a hoover & Steve went & bought a new one! Thank you. Could do with a coat stand & hooks on backs of doors for garments. Location is beautiful, peaceful yet with easy access to local town Ulverston & beyond. Will definitely come back. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

The owner was welcoming and we loved our visit from the two little dogs. The perfect place to stay to explore the Lake District.

There was plenty of room as each room in the house was very big. Plenty of seating both in lounge and dining room. 4 large bedrooms. House is on a working farm which didn't bother us. The owners Steve & Sarah very friendly and a cake and bottle of wine was a nice touch. Would definitely stay there again.
