About this property

Tomintoul 5 miles. This superb detached Manse dates back to 1844 and has been sympathetically refurbished over the years with it today being a wonderful retreat to holiday in the area. Dalvrecht Manse is situated in a quiet highland glen, beside the River Avon, two miles from the village of Tomintoul, close to Grantown-On-Spey. Surrounded by stunning unspoilt scenery and an abundance of wildlife, the property has been tastefully presented and invites a warm, homely and welcoming feel. Retaining many of its original features such as the working shutters and beautiful fireplaces, it also benefits from modern day amenities, including WiFi and Sky TV. The four bedrooms are all on the upper floor along with an impressively large bathroom and a contemporary shower room. The ground floor offers two sitting rooms that are extremely comfortable, one with a woodburning stove and one with an open fire, and the spacious dining room is where the whole family can enjoy home cooked meals together. The well-equipped farmhouse style kitchen benefits from having an AGA range and all the necessary equipment to make guests feel at home. In the warmer weather the fabulous garden will be very popular with guests who may choose a cosy corner to read a book in, or sit on the patio with a morning coffee. If you go through the iron gate at the end of the lawned area you can access yet another lower seating area with direct views to the river and surrounding countryside. It maybe difficult to leave the Manse but this quiet corner of the Cairngorms National Park provides easy access to some great outdoor pursuits. For fishermen, the rivers and lochs are easy to access and walkers have an abundance of pathways and trails to follow. Mountain bikers are also spoilt for choice with the close proximity of the Glenlivet Mountain Bike Trail Centre and the Lecht downhill mountain bike area. As this property is in the heart of the Malt Whisky Trail, you may also wish to experience some whisky sampling at one of the many distilleries in the area. Whatever you do, returning to this charming holiday home will be an absolute joy at the end of a busy day.

Tomintoul is an attractive village situated on the northern slopes of the Cairngorms National Park, and at 1160ft, it has the title of the Highest Village in the Highlands. Tomintoul has shops and a pub, and is situated on the main road between Royal Deeside and the Highlands, making it an excellent base for exploring all that the region has to offer.
