"The gate lodge was great with the added bonus of being able to use the hotel facilities. The staff were great and the grounds were lovely. Great base to explore Anglesey. We were sad to leave and would highly recommend staying to anyone else"

"The gate house lodge at Chateau Rhianfa offers a pleasant stay ideally for 2 adults as living facilities are not really suited to more adults ..."

"The Chateau is very quirky with beautiful gardens. Great location for touring. The Gate House - the carpet either needs a really good clean or better still a tiled floor putting in. The dirty carpet as you walk in spoils the whole appearance of the Gate House. There are numerous light bulbs that need replacing - the downstairs shower is extremely noisy, emitting a loud shriek when turned on. As previous guests have noted - a microwave would be an asset, however, there would be no room to put ..."

"There were also some 'essentials' missing like salt (there was an empty grinder) and cooking oil with tea and coffee provided with sugar but not topped up throughout our stay and no specific information was provided about the cottage such as how to work the heating, oven or washing machine (no powder or tablets for this either), what to do with full bins or cleaning instructions or products for the slate floors. We got a welcome letter but it was generic to the hotel rooms, referring to calling for room service from your phone (there isn't a phone in the lodge), timings for breakfast which isn't included but this also isn't mentioned or priced and similar. It was a lovely stay but felt like there was very limited attention paid to the actual self catering experience compared to the wonderful luxury experience you get in the hotel or other cottages we've stayed in."

"Positives - the view is magnificent. The Chateau is very quirky with beautiful gardens. As previous guests have noted - a microwave would be an asset, however, there would be no room to put one. Although we were very comfortable being only 2 of us, it's hard to see how 4 people would manage the kitchen/dining area comfortably. The parking is very strange - there is very little room outside the main Chateau entrance and the maneuvers that people have to go through to park there makes entertaining viewing - however - there is a lower car park in the grounds of the Chateau which has plenty of parking space at all times. We parked in this lower car park, after dropping our bags off, with no problems whatsoever - you do have to walk a short distance through the Chateau grounds to get into the Chateau and you can then use their lift to get up to the Gate House level if you needed. We loved actually walking through the grounds and up a few steps to the Gate House but anyone with mobility issues would not be able to do that. We found the staff very friendly and helpful at all times. Luxury white fluffy towels and dressing growns plus L'Occitane products in the shower rooms were a nice touch plus a good supply of tea and coffee to start you off - the staff also offered room service if we required it."

"Seating at the breakfast bar was used but not very comfortable really. The sofa was very low and not suitable for one person who had to sit at the breakfast bar most times. It really needs a new 3 seater sofa. No recycling of any rubbish -just throw it all out in one bag was not very environmentally friendly. We should have noticed but no microwave so ready meals are not an option.TV had no internet connection (advertised as Smart TV) so no movies when it was poor weather -no DVD either. Parking is an issue as it is very tight spaces for larger cars and the overflow car park is quite a walk from reception if you have a lot of luggage. Good points: The hotel staff were very helpful whenever we asked for anything, events in the hotel were well organised and enjoyable (cocktail making session). It sounds like we had a less than good experience but it was really nice, just lacking a few mod-cons. Bathrooms are large and have great showers The bedrooms were lovely with good views along the Straits from the downstairs window. Very convenient location so easy to get out and about. We will definitely go back."

"Beautiful views in lovely location. Would return."

"The Lodge is perfect. The views are fabulous from the Lodge and the grounds are beautiful. Looking forward to book again. The staff were amazing! We experienced horrific floods on Anglesey and parts of the main Château Rhianfa were under water - they turned the place around in a matter of hours and made sure it didn't affect our stay whatsoever! They look after their guests. Thank you to all the staff who were so professional and very friendly. The only very minor suggestion I would make is to put a microwave in the Lodge. Thank you again."
