About this property
This quaint, detached cottage is the perfect retreat for couples, and is located just on the outskirts of Bishop’s Stortford. It boasts a contemporary, stylish design with the charm of a holiday let, and is in the perfect location for exploring this delightful area. Within this fully insulated, eco-friendly home, PV panels provide hot water as well as the electric heating and electricity to use, and the gift toiletries provided are eco-friendly too. Enjoy the large lawned garden and private decking area, where you can sit out in the evening with a glass of wine and plan the next day’s adventure. On the first floor, the double bedroom is well-managed, with built in wardrobes and a TV; there is also a galleried style comfortable sitting area with sofas and a dining table. On the ground floor, there’s a well-equipped, contemporary kitchen with views over the garden. You are welcome to bring along your family friend, since this is a great location for dogs with many local walks and trails. These include The Hertfordshire Way, for which literature is available at the cottage, as well as some related artwork on display.
The town of Bishop’s Stortford offers an array of shops, bars and restaurants, and with Stansted Airport nearby, this cottage could be the perfect place to take a rest before your flight. The property is also situated a few miles from the Henry Moore Foundation in the quaint village of Perry Green, where you can take beautiful walks, eat a superb lunch in the local pub whilst enjoying the large scale sculpture work of the artist, and the museum where his drawings are displayed. Nearby towns include the beautiful market town of Saffron Walden, with shops, restaurants, art stores and other entertainment. You can take a trip (or walk along the river) to Sawbridgeworth, which is full of boutiques and jewellery stores, or visit Much Hadham with its small iron forge, streets full of Jacobean and Georgian houses, great pubs and stunning walks through the woodland and fields, where lambing can be seen in spring.
There are several gyms, swimming pools, cinemas, parks and other facilities in the area too. There is good access to London by train, where you can explore the famous capital city, with its many attractions including the London Eye, London Dungeons, Buckingham Palace and much more. Cambridge with its architecture, pubs, shops, restaurants and punting, is also easily reached by train or car. "Had an amazing week at this little cottage! Perfect size for what we needed, close to the main town. The kitchen and equipment is very basic but does have most things needed. The only downside was we had a kettle that had no filter so we spent the week boiling a pan to make tea even though we had notified the owners. Cottage was clean on arrival and although there is no TV in the lounge it wasn’t an issue all week. Would definitely recommend the Coach and Horse pub which is only a small walk down the road! Great service and perfect food! Would be happy to book this little cottage for another week away in the future, next time would make sure we embark on one of the walks along the river."
"Could do with TV in the lounge could do with the neighbour's not blocking you in when parked"
"It was a lovely little cottage. The only drawbacks were the t.v.in the bedroom and no mirror in the bedroom. No cloth to wipe round the kitchen. The worst thing though was probably the parking. No way round that though I do realise."
"S60988 is a nice place however people should be aware that with windows open it is very noisy with airport and traffic noise. Also it would be enhanced by a tv in the living room. The bedroom one is small and has to be watched while lying down whilst we would have preferred to watch from a chair"
"With a bus stop a few steps away, getting here is a breeze and the pre- instructions made access easy.We found the facilities in the cottage excellent and with keypad entry to the grounds, good security without being overbearing.A microwave, all cooking and crockery requirements and a good bathroom and sleeping area gave us all that we needed and Trudie The Dog had a ball. This dog friendly cottage is modern, well equipped and well maintained. We would recommend this property to anyone and were very satisfied with our stayKeith, Amanda and Trudie The French Bulldog"
"Clean, good use of space, comfortable and good shower. It was lovely to sit outside on the deck and eat breakfast looking down the long lawn. Parking was easy and Caspar the spaniel liked being walked from the front door off the lead as soon as the road was behind him, particularly along the canal. Reuben and Sarah responded helpfully and promptly to e-mail queries. There is a road behind the cottage, and the railway line runs in the cutting at the bottom of the long garden but I didn't find the noise intrusive."
"Lovely place great walks at the bottom of the garden along the river Stort, found some lovely pubs and fantastic cakes on arrival."
