    About this property

This beautiful late 17th century house is set over three floors and is an absolute gem, set in the market town of Brigg. Throughout this grand home there is evidence of its great age yet its character perfectly compliments the 21st century elegance and comfort offered throughout. The house would have been built for a man of substance, possibly a merchant, as trade and commerce expanded greatly during this time increasing England's wealth. The house offers five sumptuous and elegant bedrooms with their own distinct style, three of which are en-suite and there is an indulgent and luxurious family bathroom and a ground floor cloakroom. Each of the ground floor sitting rooms have the facility for a roaring fire, one of which is housed in an original range which would have been regularly black leaded in its day by the maid! Nowadays the range provides a comfortable place to curl up in comfort with a good book. The original windows provide ever changing framed pictures of the charming garden and the historic high street. For languorous dinner parties the formal dining room opens up to the garden through French windows, just the ticket for after dinner drinks on the patio. Brigg is a historic market town offering two markets; a farmers and a street market and provides a fantastic base for exploring the surrounding countryside. The sandy beach at Cleethorpes and the beautiful city of Lincoln are both just over a 20 mile drive from the house. The area is so accessible even for a day out to the Peak District. The verdant and undulating Lincolnshire Wolds provide great opportunities for walking and cycling and the village of Barnetby is a mecca for train spotters. This fantastic holiday home is ideal for break away at any time of year.

The historic market town of Brigg is a small market town in North Lincolnshire and is built on the crossing of the River Ancholme and was granted a charter in 1235. The town hosts two regular markets; a farmers and a street market. A significant number of buildings in the town centre date back to the late 1700s or early 1800s and are listed. The old town has been designated as a Conservation Area. The gently rolling landscape and picturesque villages prove a magnet for cyclists, walkers and wildlife lovers, with many quiet trails and country lanes to explore.

"Plenty of room and equipment. Good support from owner. Would definitely use again. Good value for money"

"This house was exactly what was needed for our family and a good base for exploring the area. The owner met us when we arrived which was a nice touch and made it more personal. Lovely touches with flowers, sweets and biscuits left around the house. The week went so quickly and we were sorry to have to leave! Would recommend this accommodation."

"We are a family of 10 ( 6 adults & 4 children) and wanted to find somewhere special to celebrate my Husband’s surprise 70th Birthday & to accommodate all of us without being overcrowded, believe me we wasn’t disappointed, we couldn’t have picked anywhere better. We had a warm welcome from Janice the owner, & the added touches of fresh flowers in all 5 bedrooms together with small pots of sweets were most appreciated, not to mention the plate of yummy cookies left on a plate in the Kitchen. The rooms were spacious....just loved having the 2 living rooms, iideal for the children to play board games (also added extra) in one, whilst us adults enjoyed chatting over a glass of wine or two in the other. Lovely enclosed garden to the rear of the property with access to parking for up to 4 cars. Everything was as advertised & certainly met our expectations and more. We would have no hesitation in recommending this property and would love to return in the very near future."

"From the details provided prior to arriving, the welcome when we arrived, the cleanliness of the property, the lovely garden, the extra touches like flowers and chocolates, we couldn’t fault anything. The location was also great within walking distance of plenty of pubs and shops. If we were in that area again we would definitely stay here again."

"Best cottage holiday I had in UK, very good accommodation for five couples with all you need at the front door still a village feel, good host, very helpful. friendly and let us stay extra day due heavy snow and could travel back."

"There were 5 adults and 4 children. The owner met us at the house and the house was was warm with the fire burning on arrival. Biscuits and chocolates waiting for us was a lovely touch. The house was beautiful and plenty big enough for everyone. The boys had some fun playing hide and seek and enjoyed having their own den to play in. Plenty of clean towels provided. We had a lovely weekend. Unfortunately we didn't see any of Brigg itself as we just relaxed by the fire, cooked and ate lots of food and drink and played games with the boys. It was a perfect weekend everyone enjoyed it and my 7 year old has already asked if we can again for his birthday."

"The beds very comfortable and towels excellent. The property is located close to the coast, Cleethorpes was a 40 min drive. Had we stayed longer we would have visited Lincoln and Skegness but unfortunately we only stayed 3 days instead of the planned 7, due to problems with the boiler at the cottage. The cottage is situated at the end of the main shopping street and there are plenty of pubs and restaurants etc, which is good during the day but the street is quite noisy on Friday and Saturday nights. Overall we enjoyed our stay and the cottage has 4 bathrooms which was great as we were a party of 6 adults."

"This is exactly described in other reviews, the house is warm and clean and friendly. So easy to live in for a week or indeed longer if required. Lovely log fires and spacious accommodation. There is everything you need in the house, everything is thoughtfully provided and there were chocs and fresh flowers in every bedroom. Some one else parked in one of the parking spaces so we had to park a car elsewhere. Close proximity to shops and supermarkets and the street has some nice restaurants too. Lovely walks beside the river and it is a short hop to Scunthorpe if you want a shopping mall."

"The cottage is just like the website photos. Beautiful furnishings and fresh flowers in the bedrooms. Three en-suite bedrooms and a lovely main bathroom that serves the other two bedrooms. The two sitting rooms have open fires and original beamed ceilings. Big enclosed garden with a summerhouse. Everything was there that we needed and a very warm welcome from the owner. We will hopefully make a return visit."

"A truly charming and surprisingly spacious house in the heart of Brigg. Tastefully decorated combining traditional and modern. Very nicely appointed bathrooms, at least two of which are en suite. Super comfy beds with top quality linen. If you are spending a week or longer in the Brigg area then look no further."

"Only downside were the showers, one only came out cold/lukewarm and two showers leaked."
