Downstairs are two delightful bedrooms, both with TVs, and a super bathroom with underfloor heating and roll-top bath, perfect for a soak after your days exertions. The attractive bustling market town of Broughton-in-Furness has Georgian buildings surrounding the pretty square which has historic stocks and also four pubs, a restaurant, shops, Post Office and a bakery, selling speciality breads and cakes. You are also on the edge of the wonderful Duddon Valley, which is one of the most picturesque in the Lake District and perfect for walking. Discover the old monk’s trails and bridle paths used to transport wool in by-gone times with the stunning back drop of lakeland fells. Just six miles away is Coniston with lake and water activities, such as the cruises on the lake and sailing while those wanting a good hike can try the challenging the classic Coniston Fells walk to the Old Man of Coniston with its superb vistas across the lakes. Locally, you can also hike up Stickle Pike fell or a little further north west you can also discover Wast Water Lake, often described as one the favourite and most beautiful views in the UK. Towards the coast, just a short drive away, is the festival and town of Ulverston with its museum of Laurel and Hardy for a different day out. Return at the end of your day’s activities to this wonderful cottage which can be enjoyed throughout the year.

Dating back to the 11th century, Broughton-in-Furness is situated in the south western corner of the Lake District and is just six miles from Coniston Water. There is much to please the visitor such as a pretty, cobbled square complete with a splendid horse chestnut tree, enclosed by shops, pubs and homes, many of them Georgian in origin. The village provides an ideal base for a walking or climbing holiday, with ample opportunity to explore the rugged beauty of the Duddon Valley and the quieter Lake District fells.
