The beautiful surrounding area offers many lovely walks and cycle routes, whilst a short drive will take you to the historic towns of Monmouth and Ross-on-Wye, or why not explore the cathedral city of Gloucestershire? An intriguing market town on the border between Wales and England and close to the exceptional Offa’s Dyke, this wonderful town combines old and new, from the old castle ruins to the vibrant weekly market. Located at the confluence of 3 rivers – the Wye, the Monnow and the Trothy, it is an excellent base to enjoy river boating, scenic walks and a little shopping too, or to simply sit and relax on the edge of the river on sunny afternoons.

    The cottage was lovely and very comfortable.

    Jean the owner was very friendly and helpful and the Welsh cakes, eggs and cold beer in the fridge were very welcome. The Lion Inn is about 200 yards away and we had several excellent meals there chatting with the locals. The road noise could be a problem for some, but didn't bother us.
