Having just returned from a week's stay in the Old Cabbage Patch, Trevone, I am slightly reluctant to reveal its qualities, of which there are many. This is truly a gem of a property from the ambiance of the decor to the well equipped kitchen and general feeling of space, its superb location 5 min to the beach and coastal walks, but most of all it is a place where as a family spanning 3 generations we felt very much at home. Full marks to Blue Chip for making our stay completely hassle free and leaving clear information to cover every eventuality.

Outstanding property, with unbelievable views of the sea... Lovely sunsets... Good location to Newquay, Watergate Bay and Padstow.

Had another week at The Old Cabbage Patch (our third stay) and it's as good as ever. The new doors/windows look good, the darker colour giving a more contemporary look that contrasts well with the new guttering. It's nice to see the property being maintained. The house is really impressive and it caters for the 9 of us (6 adult, 3 children) very well, giving areas where we can all get together and also allows for the kids watching TV in one area and the adults talking in another. The facilities are very good, and the outside shower providing warm water is exactly what's needed to help extract the kids out of their wetsuits at the end of the day. It's a well thought out property and has given us a lot of pleasure and enjoyment. Whilst our previous stays have been faultless, there's a few items to raise on the snag list this time: 1. The mattresses on the bunk beds are awful, really terrible and not acceptable in a property like this. All are very lumpy and it seems the springs have broken/deteriorated in several places on a number of them. I think it's time these were replaced. The table lamp in this room was also broken when we got there and considering this is a children's room, perhaps it should have been removed rather than left there. 2. There was a dog yapping constantly for the first three days/nights that we were there. We traced it to the property behind and it turns out the owners had left the dog whilst they went away - nice! It seems we weren't the only ones suffering with the noise as both the police and RSPCA were called out. Thankfully the owners returned on the Monday and all was quiet. 3. The door on the dishwasher is wonky and loose - this needs looking at asap to stop it coming off completely. 4. The front door/back door handles/locks were a little stiff so needs slight attention. Out of all the above points, only the first is of real concern (not much can be done re point 2 and points 3 and 4 just need a little attention from the maintenance company) and we'll be booking again for next year. This really is an excellent property and hopefully we'll be enjoying it for a few years to come.
