Swinford is located approximately 11 miles from Knock International Airport and is well known as being home to one of Mayo's largest summer festivals which features ceilidh dancing, pageantry and heritage displays which portray the traditions of East Mayo. A nine hole golf course, pony trekking and nature walks are all on offer here, and there is a lively local nightlife in the town's pubs which feature traditional live Irish music. Walk a short distance out of the town and you'll discover archaeological sites where many artefacts have been discovered. Mayo's other visitor attractions include Ceide Fields, Croagh Patrick, and the Foxford Woollen Mills.
