Snaptrip says

Gorsthead Mill Farm is consistently praised for its spaciousness, comfort, and well-equipped facilities, making it ideal for large family gatherings and group holidays. The property's location offers stunning views and is convenient for exploring the Peak District. Guests appreciate the attentive and helpful owners, and the property's ability to accommodate multiple families with ease.

Guests that stayed at this property said

Reviews frequently highlight the property's cleanliness, with guests finding the house well-maintained and tidy. The clean bed linen and well-kept rooms contribute to the high score, although there was a mention of a leak during rain which suggests a minor deduction.

The property's location is highly regarded for its peaceful setting and proximity to local attractions and towns. The scenic views and accessibility to walks and parks are appreciated, though some guests noted the nearby busy road and the initial difficulty in locating the entrance.

Guests consistently mention the comfort of the property, from the cosy log burner to the comfortable beds and spacious living areas. The presence of extra pillows, blankets, and duvets adds to the overall comfort level experienced by visitors.

The property is well-equipped with a large kitchen, ample dining space, and entertainment options like games and DVDs. However, some guests encountered issues with heating and electrics, and suggested improvements to the bathroom and garden maintenance.

While the reviews reflect positively on the owners' attentiveness and helpfulness, there is no specific mention of gifts or special thoughtful touches that would warrant a score in this category. Therefore, the score is set to null.

About this property

A stunning, designer detached country house situated in 2.3 acres of grounds in the village of Bradnop near Leek. This superb house is perfect for a large family or group of friends looking for a bit of luxury to come home to after a day exploring the nearby Peak District. The tastefully furnished entrance hall is an impressively large boot room, ideal for getting out of your walking boots and drying the dogs. Then pass through to the large contemporary kitchen with a breakfast and dining area which is a fantastic place to gather while you discuss the day’s busy itinerary. The sitting room is beautifully finished with high quality sofas and French windows opening out to the garden. There’s a woodburning stove to set the atmosphere while you sit and chat or enjoy a favourite movie together. The contemporary design and quality continues through to the light and airy bedrooms, one of which opens out to a huge decked roof terrace where you can step out of bed and greet the morning sun or enjoy a glass of wine as the sun dips over the horizon. As you’d expect, the bathroom is very high end with a designer roll-top bath and large walk-in shower. Across the courtyard is a separate garage annexe which has been cleverly adapted to create a first floor apartment with a double bed and a sitting area with a sofa bed, TV and games console making it a great place to park teenagers or a place to break away from the madding crowd. The annexe also has a contemporary shower room, so it is completely self-contained if required. Sit out on the patio and enjoy a barbecue as the kids run off the last of their energy. The grounds are beautiful with countryside all around and a babbling river flows along the bottom of the garden where you can watch the wildlife and nod to the occasional passing farmer crossing the ford. Tempting though it might be to spend your whole time here, there is plenty to do within easy reach, whether it's riding at the equestrian centre just up the road, exploring Leek, Hartington or Bakewell or driving the short distance into the breathtakingly beautiful Peak District with the Roaches nearby. A luxurious retreat to be enjoyed any time of year.

The small and pretty rural hamlet of Bradnop is situated on the western edge of the Peak District National Park close to Leek, with its antiques shops, and within easy driving distance of the market towns of Buxton and Ashbourne. Nearby is superb walking with Dovedale, the beautiful Manifold Valley, and the popular Manifold Cycle Track all within easy reach. There are lots of pretty villages to explore close by, many with good pubs. Alton Towers is less than 15 minutes' drive away.

Lots of comfortable spaces for the family to come together and equally enough room to escape for some alone time. The owners were very accommodating in providing all of the necessary information ahead of our visit and answering any questions during our stay. Would highly recommend the Cottage Kitchen Country Café for breakfast or if you fancy a cheeky coffee and cake. A visit to Emma Bridgewater in Stoke on Trent is also recommended and is only 30 minutes away.
