"It was nice to arrive at the cottage and find it nice and warm (about 4 pm)- this is i November. Hot water too. Anyone reading this might think these things are fairly basic and too be taken for granted. I have stayed in period cottages for about £100/night and the cooperate owner seemed to have difficulty with the concept that guests might want a warm , inviting place to stay with hot water to wash in morning! So top marks for getting it right ; a clean, well equipped kitchen too. Nice to be given a bottle of wine in the fridge too. Thanks againSimon"

"Sadly the first impression was marred by the total lack of any form of welcome pack. We have never before stayed in a property with a totally empty fridge and a bathroom with no toilet paper or even a sliver if soap. We noted from the comments book that previous guests had received some wine and biscuits but there was nothing on our arrival. Also, although there was a dishwasher, there was not even one tablet to start us off and there was no salt in it. Although these issues are not insurmountable, they did detract from the overall package."

"The location is a small modern built but traditional style complex . It’s well laid out as is the cottage . There are some lovely walks around the village and it’s close to all the major tourist sites eg Alnwick , Seahouses , Bamburgh etc . The village has no shop or pub and although there is a welcome gift of wine and biscuits there is no milk provided . So stock up on milk etc in Alnwick at one of Aldi , Coop , Lidl , Morrison’s or Sainsbury’s . The nearest pub is about a mile away and the nearest shop about 2 miles away . Most of the pubs in the district and further afield are dog friendly .The cottage is well equipped and warm ( we did not have the heating on so guess with the underfloor heating on it would be really warm in winter ) .The cottage is not fenced in at the front nor in the side garden - so be aware of this if you are expecting to let your dog run free around the property ."

"Beautiful cottage, we had a fab weekend, very comfy and well equipped"

"A very peaceful setting for this cottage, a few miles drive from beaches, Alnwick and lots of other Northumbrian places of interest. Clean, very comfortable bed and big kitchen and living area, felt very spacious."

"An excellent cottage for two people and one dog. Well equipped, modern, clean, comfortable, quiet. We were blessed with good weather too. Nothing much in the village of Rock. The surrounding area is outstanding, I visited the amazing Alnwick Garden and Castle (no dogs allowed there sadly) but husband and dog took to the Cheviot Hills for an adventure of their own, perfect in this case. Lindisfarne was wonderful, make sure you see the tiny Gertrude Jekyll garden. The sandy beaches are wonderful, Embleton, Beadnell, Bamburgh and Alnmouth, all worth a visit, un-commercialised which we liked, so you need to be organised with food and water etc. and all dog friendly. Lots of other interesting places to visit. We also cycled, nice quiet roads and some cycle routes too. Craster, is a lovely little harbour village, make sure you take a trip down there too.The only tiny thing is that the garden area did not have a gate so we had to keep the dog tied up to the fence or he would have gone rabbiting! A wonderful part of the country to visit."

"A very well equipped and comfortable cottage ideal for a couple in a peaceful location with lovely walks around the village. If the garden had a gate it would be a great help to dog owners. We had a very enjoyable stay and can thoroughly recommend it"
Julie ‐ 23 Jun 2018
"Such a cosy cottage and very comfortable . Everything there that you needed. Especially impressed with the plants in the garden a little added touch for a holiday cottage . Neat and quiet close of lovely houses . The sea was close by as was Alnwick Town . So much to see and do , especially the Farne Islands . Nothing to fault Highly recommended"

Clive ‐ 26 May 2018
"S45340 is a very comfortable cottage and has everything you need for a very enjoyable stay. We would certainly book here again when planning our next visit to Northumberland. S45340 is in a lovely and quiet village with friendly locals. There aren`t any facilities in the village itself but there is a pub in the adjacent village about 1 mile away and shop about 3 mile away. The cottage is relatively close to the wonderful Northumbrian coast and many places of interest."
