About this property

A lovely Grade II listed terraced fisherman's cottage quietly tucked away in the heart of the conservation area built during the 1790s in the historic Kent town of Deal. Just a stone's throw from the beach, this cottage has been thoughtfully and lovingly renovated and is perfect for families and friends looking to enjoy a traditional seaside holiday and to explore the coastline and castles that this part of Kent is famous for. This cottage is full of character and retains many original features including deep sash windows, extensive wood panelling, original bedroom doors and an inglenook fireplace. The modern, fitted kitchen is well-equipped for you to prepare delicious meals that can be enjoyed in the adjoining conservatory, giving an alfresco feel to all meals. Two sitting rooms give plenty of space and an escape for those who just fancy a quiet evening in with a good book. Spiral stairs lead up to three attractive bedrooms spread over the two upper floors along with a family bathroom on the first level. Enjoy a meal in the courtyard garden, a superb sun trap, and settle down for a taste of the sea. Fresh fish is sold daily along the harbour as the fishing boats bring in their catch, and with the beach just a couple of minutes’ walk away, you are perfectly located to enjoy all of the delights of the town. The shops, tea rooms and inns are all on the doorstep along with a weekly market and of course, the remains of the stunning Deal Castle which gives a fascinating insight into the history of the area. It’s very conveniently located in Deal and the house has everything you need to self-cater. The rooms are spacious and well decorated and I got used to the steep quirky staircase by the end of the week! Would highly recommend and will return.

The owner had put up a Christmas tree, and left useful information on the local area, as well as instruction manuals for all the appliances which was also useful! The property has a great layout for a family of 4 with 2 grown up children, with plenty of room for everyone to find their own space! We enjoyed playing board games in the downstairs den. The owner was very helpful when we encountered the odd problem and was very quick to respond; also returned the good housekeeping bond very promptly. We would love to return here at some point.

It is warm, comfortable and very well equipped. The staircases are very steep though - but all of the houses in historic Deal tend to be like this. We would love to return.
