A complimentary welcome hamper will be awaiting you on your arrival containing milk, tea, fresh coffee, bread, butter, eggs, juice, wine and cheese, along with other essential items to prepare a light snack or breakfast. There may be some regional variations.
The Reading Room is situated adjacent to Ivy House in the charming village of Wetton, in the heart of the Peak District, close to Dovedale and the Manifold Valley, and the start point for some of the most attractive walks in the National Park.
The stone cottage is an imaginative conversion of one of the original Chatsworth Estate Reading Rooms.
For accommodation for a larger party the Reading Room can either be booked with Ivy House, or booked separately. There is a connecting passage on the ground floor between the two properties, with a lockable door (with low headroom) to protect guest privacy.

The cottage was smaller than we thought from the description and the low beams did cause us problems particularly in the shower. Only one toilet was a mistake. The off road parking was far too small to put a car and was misrepresented in the advertising blurb. It was not made clear how isolated Wetton is and how far the nearest village is for us to buy a paper and bread and milk. The bread that was supplied was so hard that we could not cut it with a saw knife.We have hired other accommodation elsewhere that gives better value for money. Perhaps that is why it is being sold.The local people were wonderfully friendly which helped to make our experience enjoyable.

Housekeeping was excellent. It was very clean and the hamper was outstsanding. We were disappointed with the cottage unfortunately. The bathroom was practically unusable. The shower was over the bath and had a tendency to leak everywhere. Luckily we are both fit and mobile, but I think the bathroom would pose real difficulties to anyone less mobile, especially as the ceiling was sloping and the risk of banging your head was high! We felt that better use of space might have been to have the bathroom downstairs instead of having the twin bedroom. kind regards Jackie Mcdonald
