    About this property

Conveniently located to visit much of West Cornwall and its superb South Coast, this comfortable and cosy one-bedroom apartment in Penryn, one of Cornwall's most ancient towns, is just a stone’s throw from both the town centre and harbour, and one mile from Falmouth. Enter the property into the bright and sociable open plan living area, with its large comfy sofa, wall-mounted TV, contemporary kitchen and dining area. One step up through sliding doors and you’ll find the unusual bedroom, standing side-by-side with the bathroom, both adjoining the living area. Step out of the apartment and within just a few minutes’ stroll you can be beside the harbour. Penryn is a hub for sailing and the town centre, with its character builds and slanting cobbled streets offers individual shops, galleries, cafés and pubs including the 200 year-old Kings Arms. With the beautiful Helford River nearby and fine sandy beaches within a short distance, you will never be short of options for a day out. Combine this with the fact that Falmouth is just a mile away, where you can while away your day on the beach, wander the South West Coast Path, spend the afternoon on a fishing or scuba diving trip or peruse the array of shops in the bustling town, and you have the perfect base for a wonderful holiday, whatever time of year.

One of the oldest market towns in Cornwall, the pretty port of Penryn boasts a wealth of historic architecture and harbour heritage with attractive granite buildings steeply sloping along the cobbled streets down to the sea. There’s a good choice of amenities in the town and 1 mile away is the famous port of Falmouth. You don’t have to venture far to discover Cornwall’s many sights, delights and stunning coastline, and Penryn is the perfect character base from which to see it all.

"Could have done with iron could have been cleaner and a thoughtful gift of milk tea and coffee would have been nice after long journey but close to amenities and comfortable bed and sofa and nice shower"

" It could have been cleaner, especially in the kitchen area. "

" Car parking was an issue but there again where isn't it an issue? The couple of minor issues we experienced were instantly put right by the owner and did not impact on our stay. The bed was really comfortable, and the property contained everything you could need for a week's stay. Kitchen facilities were absolutely adequate, can't think what else you could need. The only criticism (and its a minor one) a wall placed mirror in the bathroom would be a good idea, although there is a small one provided it is not at head height, but this did not in any way detract from a wonderful stay. " The kitchen surface was limited so it was tricky to prepare anything much. "

" We thought the directions were a little off - unless that was just us. The only comment we would make was that the heating only came on once a day, in the morning, and it got a bit chilly later in the afternoon. At this time of year twice a day would have been much better. "

" The level of cleanliness was not great - the handles on the kitchen cupboards were sticky, there was mould on the shower head and the drain in the shower needs cleaning out. We stayed for 2 weeks in September and the place was damp, despite running the extractor fan in the clothing storage area, and putting the heating on for short periods. It was worst in the bedroom because it was the only room without a radiator, we could smell it in the air and feel it in the bedding. Mould is starting to grow on one wall close to the exterior door. The flat is not well equipped - there's no iron or hairdryer and the kitchenette has a doll-sized sink and drainer which wouldn't be so bad if the dinner plates weren't the same size as the sink! The worktop is so small that the microwave and huge toaster were stored in the under-sink cupboard, and the kitchen utensils are minimal. The cooker hood didn't seem to be working very well and the window next to the kitchenette didn't open so cooking smells lingered in the kitchen/diner/living area. The bathroom has no fixed mirror, making it difficult to shave - my partner had to hold the mirror with one hand and shave with the other. The best things I can say about it is it had a comfy sofa and bed, a good washer/drier and there were plenty of towels. If we had not had good experiences of before, this holiday would have discouraged us from booking again. Next time I'll make sure I read the reviews before I book! Oh, and that cotton bud is still in the radiator.... "

"Maia House was in a good location Penryn to explore Cornwall - there isn't a lot in Penryn itself so I wouldn't stay in that area again, the cottage was okay TV / WIFI / Few Sky channels which was good the cooking facilities were okay not very clean we had to clean the cooker and some of the dishes before we used them a dirty oven tray was covered with foil ........ Floor and skirting which is all wood made the dust more noticeable - dirty used cotton buds were in the radiators !!! whilst we ..."

"Penryn is a working town, with local friendly people & pubs. It is a perfect location to explore the surrounding areas such as Falmouth (1.5 miles away) without costing a fortune. The flat is comfortable, cosy, internet works well, and 'sky' was a bonus. It would have been nice to have a few coffee sachets & milk to make a drink on arrival, and there isn't a hairdryer, but other than that, a perfect break away. Thanks Jo, Colin & Ralph (The Cockerpoo)"
