Firstly our original booking was for The Byre but we were contacted a few days prior to our arrival asking if we could move cottages due to our original cottage being unavailable for some reason. We were happy to swop. On arrival it’s clear the listing misleads you, it is not on a working farm as described and you are surrounded by a new housing estate still under construction. Our main problem was a faulty toilet in the main bathroom which meant the cistern was continually filling every 90 seconds throughout the day and night. As the cistern was against our bedroom wall this led to disturbed sleep on the 3 nights we stayed there. My Seymour did come to look at the problem and I understand so did a plumber but nothing was resolved whilst we were there. The towels in the downstairs shower room were grey although should have been white and were poor quality. We appreciated the tea, coffee, sugar and milk left for us, thank you. The accommodation is spacious with most things that you need. Some coasters upstairs and towel rails in both bathrooms are a must. There is nowhere to hang the towels.

The road is rather noisy when in the garden but is not noticeable indoors. The property is well appointed with plenty if cooking utensils which was good as i cooked every day i was there. It also has a dishwasher and both a washing machine and a separate tumble drier. The bathrooms are OK but the downstairs shower could just do with some minor repair as it is missing seals on the doors so tended to make the floor very wet and at my age I did not want to climb in and out of the bath to use the upstairs shower. I would have liked the main double bed to be firmer but that is obviously a matter of personal taste. All in all I would definitely recommend this cottage and I had a very enjoyable week seeing the many interesting places in the area.
