… 2 miles from Branscombe on a tiny hedgerow lane about ½ mile from the Coast Path, a gorgeous, thatched, detached, Grade II listed cottage with 17th cent. origins. A large, pretty, enclosed, shrub-filled lawned garden surrounds it (table/chairs, barbecue) - lots of space for ball games or simply relaxing. Pony paddocks and a few dwellings beyond and Sidmouth’s famous donkey sanctuary, 500 yards away. Footpaths lead from the cottage, including to the Coast Path and beach (⅔ mile).
Inside, simple white walls, a few low lintels, heavy beams and original blackened oak spiral staircase/banister (please take care). From garden, door to large fitted kitchen/dining room (Esse electric range, dishwasher, microwave, fridge-freezer) with slate floor, big table/chairs in centre, TV and iPod dock; utility room (washing machine, tumble drier, loo); living room with huge inglenook (ornamental), TV/DVD, original oak-panelling and pretty garden view; second living room-cum-children’s play area with toys, tiled floor (rug) and woodburner (ornamental). Spiral stairs (stairgate) up to three bedrooms – two double (one with 6’ bed and iPod dock, the other with 5' bed), and a twin; bathroom (suite) and shower-room (suite). Some steps up and down upstairs. A gem of a cottage.

"Dunscombe Cottage is a beautiful building in an equally beautiful location. It is furnished to a high standard with a very well equipped kitchen which became the main hub of our holiday home when we weren't touring or asleep! The location was ideal for travelling throughout the County as well as Dorset. There is a mountain of information guests can plough through if they need ideas of what to do. The cottage has a beautiful garden with tables and chairs in two locations so you can sit in or avoid the sun, as you wish. The owners deserve credit for anticipating and providing for their guests. The cottage is less than 5 minutes walk from the wonderful Donkey Sanctuary which is a must to go to and which does a great Full Farmers Breakfast. We would definitely stay at Dunscombe Cottage again. Also, excellent information and customer service from Helpful Holidays."

"Dunscombe Cottage was absolutely beautiful, we fell in love with the property the moment we walked through the door. The property was well equipped (our friend loves to cook was was very impressed by the well stocked kitchen) although she did have a bit of a problem controlling the temperature of the Range cooker, and the children loved the garden and the playhouse, very comfortable. The location was extremely quiet, close to the Donkey Sanctuary, the costal path and a beach (access to the beach will be difficult for those of us that aren't fit). We were very sad to leave. Ideal property for families or a group of friends."
