About this property

A charming, stone-built detached cottage, situated in the grounds of the owner's home in the conservation village of Old Glossop, which was used in the BBC series, The Village. This delightful property offers warm and comfortable accommodation and affords a welcoming, open plan living area, spacious double bedroom and a small enclosed patio garden, ideal for alfresco dining. Old Glossop, renowned as the Gateway to the Peaks, boasts a village pub, a pretty square surrounded by a cluster of 17th and 18th century cottages, a 13th century cross and a wonderful Norman church. Numerous scenic walks radiate from the village and the many attractions of the National Park can be enjoyed from the doorstep. Nearby Glossop offers a good selection of shops, restaurants and pubs together with an 18-hole golf course, whilst the nearby spa town of Buxton, with its majestic gardens and architecture, offers a lovely day out. An ideal romantic retreat for those wishing to get away from it all and enjoy this beautiful and historic area.

This millstone grit village is surrounded on three sides by the beautiful Peak District National Park. Old Glossop can be reached along the Snake Pass, aptly named because of the way it winds past dramatic and exceptional scenery. Around the original market square, the village has houses dating back to the 17th and 18th Centuries and a splendid Norman Church, with, rumour has it, a haunted vicarage. Eastwards on the Snake Pass will take the holiday maker past the Ladybower and Derwent Reservoirs, where the famous Dambuster Squadron practised. Nearby Glossop provides a range of amenities and access to the spectacular Peak District with the towns of Buxton and Castleton in the Hope Valley within easy reach. A fabulous holiday destination for the whole family.
