About this property

A charming, 19th century townhouse within walking distance of Alnwick town centre. Offering traditional and cosy accommodation over three floors, Cosy Nook boasts an open fire, wonderful kitchen and a sunny patio garden. Well-equipped and comfortable, the cottage is ideally located for exploring all that the region has to offer. Alnwick Castle and gardens (most recently famous for Harry Potter connections) are just 15 minutes' walk, while just 4 miles away lies the Heritage Coast with its miles of sandy beaches and dunes. An ideal location for a relaxing break.

This part of Northumberland is famous for its unspoilt beauty, and is widely recognised as having some of the most picturesque countryside in the whole of England. The area offers a wonderful combination of coastline and countryside, having long sandy beaches and the Cheviot Hills complementing each other perfectly. There are also a great number of well-preserved and spectacular medieval castles and stately homes in the area, including the fantastic Alnwick Castle, home to the Duke of Northumberland and often referred to as "The Windsor of the North". Alnwick itself was once a prosperous medieval market town, being only a day's ride from Berwick-upon-Tweed in the north and Newcastle upon Tyne in the south. It is still a charming maze of cobbled streets and narrow alleys, whilst its fine stone buildings now house a range of specialist shops and family-run businesses. Visitors can still enjoy the atmosphere of Alnwick as it may have been in Medieval times in the town's recently refurbished Market Place, which is also the centre for local events, including Alnwick Fair and the International Music Festival.

Just a few things that could improve things would be a thorough clean/dust as evidence of long term cobwebs throughout the house and artificial flowers in the bedroom absolutely covered in dust! Rugs in the hallway were annoying as they ruckled up all the time, trip hazard! We also found a number of mouse droppings particularly on the stairs to the first floor, I realise any house can have mice but for these to be still on the carpet on arrival is not a good first impression! Fridge not switched on for our arrival only noticed the following day, when a bag of ice cubes left by previous tenants melted in the ice box and left a big pool of water on the floor! Garden overgrown a little and would have sat outside on the garden chairs had they not been dirty and covered with green algae, I wouldn’t expect to have to clean these ourselves. The addition of a hairdryer would of been useful. All that said the house was lovely and had a particularly nice kitchen and nice period features, not the creepy teddies in the bedroom’s and so many artificial flowers. Whilst we knew the property didn’t have WIFI When we booked, it was very inconvenient as nowadays everything is booked online! Ps as we had a lovely warm week we did water the Pansies in the garden!

It was spotless on arrival and had everything we needed. I don't think the photos do it justice, it was bigger than we expected. We loved the area and have already recommend the house to friends. Thanks again

Also a hair dryer would have been useful and some milk to make a cup of tea on arrival would have been nice.
