"Absolutely lovely accommodation. Nothing had been missed. It was like staying in somebody's house not a holiday cottage. Only niggle that we would recommend to be altered is the temperature as it was way too hot. Obviously the house is very well insulted but the heating is set too high."

    "Excellent accommodation."

"I have to report that upon arrival, we found the property overheated - temperature around 25 degrees. Despite instructions not to touch heating controls, I had to change the individual control (in each room) back to a sensible temperature of around 18-19 deg and open doors/windows. Because it is underfloor heating, this takes a long time, according to the plumber who arrived to sort out another problem, around 2-3 days. Therefore for the first two nights, sleeping was difficult. One of the bedrooms only has a patio door which couldn't be left open for air......The toilet in the main bathroom constantly refilled so on day 3 the plumber arrived to fix. The wi-fi is provided via dongle. Unfortunately the owner has been using the wrong network (Three) and therefore it was unusable. I have mobiles on all networks and was able to prove a decent signal on EE, so the owner kindly purchased a new dongle on this network and thereafter wi-fi was satisfactory. Another negative is that the boiler is located outside, the other side of the main en-suite bedroom. My mother was woken on numerous occasions by this switching on and off during the night, apparently to maintain the water temperature. Eventually she moved to the twin room. Us ladies need a mirror and adjacent socket to do our hair - only the twin bedroom provided this facility. There was no dressing table in the other rooms so was obliged to use the shelf in the main bathroom for this purpose. The living/dining/kitchen area is a very pleasant room and the lodge's best feature. Water pressure at the lodge is excellent as were the showers/bath. The wood in which the property is situated is on a private estate south of the village of Chirnside. It is a very peaceful location, only farm vehicles can be heard. Because it is shaded by trees, there isn't much possibility of sun bathing here - the other lodge is the better option for this activity."

"What a fantastic cottage and a gorgeous location. We would definitely stay here again. The cottage was fully equipped with everything you would need - it was home from home. There is a huge secure garden where the dog could roam without escaping. It was brilliant.... nothing more I can say"

"Wonderful lodge, clean and spacious in a lovely, quiet setting. Well equipped and comfortable."

"The fact that we have said we would not return to Oak lodge is absolutely no reflection on accommodation at all. The reason we would not return is that we felt it was a bit too remote for us and we would have preferred to be nearer a major city.Heating problems need addressing."
    Amanda
"A wonderful place to stay - I would highly recommend it."
    Arthur
"Beautiful location and luxurious accommodation. Well- equipped lodge with lots of space and most home comforts. Away from traffic and towns. Great for walking, cycling and seeing countryside and seaside. Local farm roads are very quiet and safe for pedestrians and cyclists."

"What an amazing place. Truly tranquill and welcoming. The owners have worked hard to create an oasis and have achieved it. We really enjoyed our stay."
    Hilary
"We had a lovely relaxing week and enjoyed the comfort of the property. It was wonderful watching the wildlife from the sitting room."

"We spent a lovely Easter week in Oak Lodge - gorgeous surroundings; excellent standard of accommodation and the weather was very kind to us. Very kind owner who seems to have thought of everything necessary to make her holiday home very comfortable and welcoming, including coffee (real), tea, bread, milk and biccies already there for our arrival. The only downside we found was that the under floor heating system was a little too warm for us. We'd definitely stay here again - its in a small but very friendly village which is central for days out to lots of different places (seaside; countryside; castles; Holy Island) - highly recommended accommodation. Thank you."

"lovely accommodation, well stocked and in a beautifully relaxed situation."
    Julie
"This was the perfect place for a relaxing peaceful holiday. Wonderful to be able to see the stars in the sky due to the lack of light pollution. Beautiful area with the coast 15 mins away in one direction & the hills in the other direction. Wonderful walks on the doorstep too."
    Linda
"The Oak has everything you can think of. The quality of the furnishings is excellent mostly oak. Almost everything has been thought of even some nappies for baby. It was warm and cosy with underfloor heating. Tea, coffee dishwasher tablets etc were all provided. "
    Barbara
"Excellent accommodation. Superb quality in regards to furnishings and bed linen. Accommodation equipped with everything you could possibly need. Ideal location for sightseeing. Only negative is the directions provided to reach the property. The route suggested via the North Lodge takes you down a single dirt track with 6 inch potholes. Access via the West Lodge would be more sensible."
    Ruth
"The nicest accommodation we have experienced, we met the owner - a very nice lady. We would visit again."
    Wendy
"The Oak is a wonderful holiday home, equipped with everything you need, lovely homemade cupcakes and bread on arrival! Would highly recommend this home."
