    About this property

Situated in a remote location on the edge of the rugged Cambrian Mountains, this detached, traditional Welsh cottage, accessed by a rough track (4WD strongly advised), is bursting with charm and original character, making it a perfect holiday base for bird watchers, mountain bikers or walkers looking for an adventure. Felinwynt, dating back to the 17th century, was a former shepherd’s cottage which has been sympathetically restored to uncover all its original features, including stone walls, beams and welcoming touches such as a wood-burning stove for those cosy nights in. The location is truly magnificent and offers peace and tranquillity in abundance, with breathtaking views over the rolling countryside, where red kites soar high. Just a short stroll down to the village of Devil’s Bridge, guests can discover the glistening, world-famous waterfall, as well as a seasonal gift shop, family-run restaurant and the Vale of Rheidol steam railway, which operates daily trips to the popular coastal resort of Aberystwyth. Explore the picturesque Cambrian Mountains and discover the ancient ruins of Strata Florida Abbey, or ramble the numerous trails nestled amongst shimmering lakes and forests. New Quay and Aberaeron are also worth a visit, offering tasteful restaurants and golden beaches, where bottlenose dolphins can be seen on a clear day! Horse riding can also be found locally. Beach 11 miles. Shop and pub 1½ miles.

Beamed, open-plan living/dining room with wood-burning stove and slate floor. Compact, beamed kitchen with slate floor. Double bedroom with 6ft bed. Twin bedroom with additional single bed (for alternative sleeping only). Bathroom with over-bath shower and toilet. Vertical ladder to open galleried area.

    "Stunning place."
    Christine
"Wonderful location. Cottage needed a good spring clean. Oven was dirty also some of the crockery. Fire wasn't cleaned out. I feel the cottage would not be as popular if in a different location."

"Great place to stay ehile working in the area, amazing views."
    Naomi
"Really enjoyed our stay Very comfortable and cosy just what we wanted"
    Jane
"Beautiful cottage! Very remote but fab veiws and very comfortable! Would recommend a 4x4 especially in bad weather as it is up a dirt track for a mile and can be tricky at times. Cottage clean with everything you need. Make sure u bring enough food as nearest supermarket is 30min drive away. Would deffenatly return!"

"We wanted an away from it all break and Felinwynt answered our needs perfectly. Perched on top of the Welsh hills with a nearly 360 degree view we were certainly on our own. The cottage was cosy, especially when we revved up the woodburner, spotless when we arrived (thanks Charlotte), amidst lovely scenery with the gentle baaing of the local sheep. We loved the idea of the rainwater harvesting system, and appreciated the effort in getting some sort of wifi signal. .15mbps isn't bad for a property so remote. Orange (or EE) signal was great but no Vodafone so take heed. Many thanks"
    Sandra
"The cottage was in a superb location & was a good size. It could do with a bit of TLC & a deep clean as some areas (particularly the kitchen) were not quite up to the standard we have found in other cottages we have rented."
    Alison
"Fantastic location. Lots to do in the area. Good to have a local contact in case we had any problems, though not needed."

"We absolutely loved this cottage and its location. Highly recommend it to anyone with a 4x4 or high vehicle; it takes about 10 mins to drive along the track from the road but it is so worth it!"

"Lovely cottage in a fabulous location."
    Christian
"Lovely spot. Don't move the sofa as its not been cleaned at for month, or bed... But would stay again if not too many other places in Wales would be more enticing..."

"Great Place to stay , we had a lovely stay and the dogs enjoyed it even more. The location is stunning and the cottage is the perfect getaway. If your looking for somewhere to stay for some peace and quiet this is it.Loads of places to walk within 5 miles of the village.cottage was very clean and tidy when we arrived, and loads of info left in cottage in case of any problems so cant ask for any more on that side of things.Would gladly recommend."
    Geoff
"Not very clean particularly the oven and floors throughout. Cold and draughty. Welcome Pack was a small stale loaf and pint of milk. Not very good when the nearest shop was about 4 miles away (the one in Devils Bridge had closed down) i.e. no Tea of Coffee. Unfortunately I wouldn't recommend it."
    Lisa
"Great location, lovely cottage. The only negative comment would be that it could have been cleaner, especially the cooker, which had baking trays in it with fat still in them. Also, there were dirty towels and sheets left in the wash basket in the bathroom, presumably from the previous guests. However, we still enjoyed our stay and would return in the hope that the cleaning issues were a one off problem."

"Was a good get away, quiet, peaceful and lovely scenery. Cottage was really nice, however poorly sign posted. Would benefit hugely from better signage and clear guidance. Overall cottage was nice but amenities not value for money.Hot water only enough for one person per day! Heating is useless and clear guidance and instruction on how to use fireplace would be a plus point.Wifi is really really bad, so if you use Internet from time to time The wifi is extremely basic and won't pick up much signal."

"Poor weather, gale force winds and a 'green land' spoilt the experience. However the Red Kites were magnificent when the clouds lifted"
    Dylan
    "Great place"
    Jacqui
"lovely cottage in a super position with stunning views. Our only gripes were that the fire had not been cleaned out ready for our arrival and there was no welcome pack. I would also add that a couple of large kitchen spoons would be useful and a can opener that works would be helpful."
    Richard
"The main attraction for us was the location, away from the rat race in isolation, saw no one, (perfect) everywhere you walk is hilly so it will get your heart pumping, the cottage had everything that we could have needed, deceptively spacious and homely, enjoyed our stay."
    Hazel
    "Very comfortable accommodation"
    sarah
"Great stay. Stunning views. Nice to be in a remote location. Lots to do nearby. Cosy cottage with real fire. Helpful local cleaner. We'll be back!"
