Situated on the edge of Exmoor National Park, Briddicott Farm Cottage is located close to the medieval village of Dunster, with its famous castle, deer park and mill. This cosy holiday cottage with wood burner offers a real working farm experience, being located within a busy working farm in The Crown Estate which is renowned for its production of sheep’s milk. There are various pens and barns with cattle all around the cottage - glance out of the bedroom windows and watch sheep grazing on the rolling hills! In the lawned front garden are some resident hens, and there is a sitting out area – the ideal spot to enjoy al fresco dining or a drink on a balmy evening and enjoy distant views of the Somerset coast. There is superb walking with many footpaths leading to either the South West Coastal Path or the heathlands and forests of the Dunster woodland and Exmoor National Park. Other places to visit are the Victorian villages of Lynmouth and Lynton which are famous for the Watersmeet Gorge, National Trust, and the Valley of the Rocks and the funicular cliff railway. The West Somerset Railway is great for steam train lovers! There are beaches at Porlock and Dunster. Shops, pubs and restaurant 1 mile.

"The hosts, Tracy and Andrew, were lovely, very friendly and on hand if needed (we had problems with the wi-fi which were quickly sorted), but otherwise left us to enjoy the cottage. The cottage is exactly what you would expect for an old farm-workers cottage, but with all the equipment you could need. The water comes from a spring and is absolutely fine. The galley kitchen is tiny (two is a crowd!), but who spends their holiday in the kitchen? The location is stunning, with views down to the Bristol Channel and beyond to Wales. A walk up the (very steep!) hill behind the cottage takes you directly onto Exmoor with an amazing vista of hills rolling off into the distance. It is so peaceful, with just the everyday noises of a working farm (not at all intrusive) and the occasional distant whistle of a steam train as you watch it make its way along the coast. It’s lovely waking up to the baa-ing of sheep! We had a fabulous two weeks there."

"Tremendous location, wonderful cottage and beautiful surrounding countryside."

"An absolutely great week away. We loved staying at Bridicott farm. The location is spot on; you feel away from it all when you’re in the cottage as there’s nothing else around, yet it’s only 10 minutes from Minehead and lots of other amazing places. The cottage itself is quaint, quiet and charming. We had a fire on one of the evenings and it included everything you’d need. It has its own garden, complete with a chicken named Chickileta. She loved eating our strawberry tops and our daughter adored her. The hosts are friendly and welcoming, whilst allowing plenty of space for you to enjoy the cottage (we only saw them once and spoke to them on the phone). This was ideal for us as it made it feel like the cottage was ‘ours’ for the week. They also rang us one we’d left as they found a water bottle seal that may have been ours; this was a nice touch as I’m sure lots of other places wouldn’t have bothered. We’d definitely revisit Bridicott Farm and would recommend it to anyone wanting to get away, without being too far away from the Somerset action."

"Lovely and very helpful owners the cottage is a quaint rustic farmworkers cottage with spectacular views to the coast from the garden. There are great walks straight from the cottage."

"Perfect location for both a countryside & coastal holiday. It was lovely waking up to the sound of cows in the morning. Our hosts were really friendly. We had a great relaxing time."

"Myself and my two teenage children had a really memorable holiday in this wonderful cottage. To get away from the city is so important to us and Briddicott Farm was just perfect. Wonderful walks with great areas to explore. Lynton and Lynmouth is well worth a visit if only for the spectacular views along the way. At the end of the week our host, Andrew, very kindly took us out to explore the 2000 acres surrounding cottage which was just incredible and we learnt so much from him about the farm and area. We have stayed in many different cottages in many different locations over the years, but this most definitely our favourite!"

"Enjoyed our stay at Christmas at Briddcott farm. It was nice to see a Christmas tree and decorations even though your not at home made it special. The cottage doesn't have central heating but good electric heaters and a lovely log fire with as many logs as you need included. The beds were very comfortable. As said it is on a working farm but we were not disturbed by the animals, just a friendly sheep dog who just wanted its tummy rubbed, we were lucky to see the lambs just born. At this time of year there was a bit of mud but no different to going down a country lane in winter. So very happy with our stay"

"We loved staying in this quirky cottage which had everything we needed for a comfortable holiday. It was quite a cold week so it was great to get back to the cottage after a brisk walk on the moors and light the log burner and spend a cosy evening by the fire. Lovely view over the Bristol Channel from the garden which I imagine would be beautiful in the summer. Lots of birds in the garden so take some bird seed and enjoy watching them squabble over the food and don't forget to feed the friendly chicken in the garden. Dunster is worth a visit and the deer park is a lovely place to walk to from the cottage on a sunny day. I'm sure we will be back!"
