"Very pleasant stay in the cottage in order to visit friends in the next village. Everything was provided and Darren the owner was extremely pleasant and helpful. They even put up a Christmas tree and lights for us. Very nice and thank you."

"Lovely stay, gorgeous cottage, a little tired in places..... sofa needs cleaning, shower wasn’t cleaned, drawer front hanging off, bathroom needs a little tlc. Minor points, did not affect our stay. Lovely pub next door very welcoming. Would definitely recommend."

"Fantastic cottage with everything you need for a weekend away"

"although a charming cottage it needs attention particularly in the bathroom, sofa needs a good clean, washing machine smelt of mould and door rubber was black also bin in bathroom contained rubbish and don't think the shower had been cleanedwith a bit of care this cottage could be very welcoming and although we are critical of some things I would recommend"

"We have visited The Croft a number of times and always enjoy our stay .The cottage has a homely feel and there are lots of great walks from the door and also a good park for children nearby. The village has a good range of facilities including a coop and a variety of takeaway places. The owners have always been very helpful too ."

"A lovely cottage full of character. The owner Darren was very helpful. There are plenty of leaflets in the property for ideas on places to visit. The pub next door allowed us to use their parking for the week."

"Loved our stay at the Croft. It’s comfortable clean and very welcoming. Lovely area only downside is the road can be quite busy at times but it didn’t put us off... we’ve been going for 5 years now!"

"Very pleasant cottage, but be aware stairs are both steep and noisy. Otherwise everything as it should be. Also at time of writing local pub does not offer evening meals."

"This was our second stay at this lovely cottage. Everything was once again perfect. There is everything that you could possibly need and more for a relaxing holiday. Our 2 Chihuahuas Tillie and Lulu loved the garden. They were completely safe as it is fully enclosed and it was lovely to sit out with them in the lovely surroundings. The treats were most welcome and we will definitely be returning again in the near future"

"The Croft is by far the best holiday cottage we have ever stayed in. We loved the age of the property, the sloping ceilings, wonky floors and a fireplace to die for. The Croft has a lovely calming and welcoming feel and we instantly felt at home under its thatched roof. As it was a warm week when we stayed, the dogs particularly liked the cool brick tiled flooring in the dining room and the shade provided by the shrubs in the garden. The Croft is very well equipped in a lovely part of the village. Ideally place for our four legged friends who enjoyed exploring the many footpaths in the area. We have no hesitation in recommending this beautiful cottage."

"Not the best but far from the (our) worst. Pub next door was fine but a shame there were no evening meals. Good location & good travel links. Property a bit tired but all needed was there."
    Ian ‐ 29 Jan 2019
"Lovely quaint little cottage, nice pub next door, only downside was the downstairs loo, but often the case in older properties."
    Joe ‐ 12 Dec 2018
"We have stayed at The Croft for over 20 years. Darren is attentive and seeks people's views and feedback in order that any situations are handled first and foremost. The bedrooms are so clean and comfy and the fire is a treat to sit before in the evenings. We did not even watch the television, just sat in the comfort and warmth of this lovely house."

"Cosy cottage in rural Essex. Great feature wood burner and well equipped kitchen. Sitting room has a large fireplace with wood burner and the cottage is very warm. Ideal for two and maybe close relatives as adjoining rooms with only one safe set of stairs. Bathroom is large with powerful shower. Pub next door does a good Sunday lunch. Excellent butcher in the village and we had a takeaway from The Indian in Halstead - The Cinnemon Tree."
