"Out the drive, across the road and you are straight onto a well maintained tow path. I walked over 6 miles of the tow path from the cottage and the majourity is tarmac. The real coal fire is very easy to light and it really make the room warm."

"Location by the canal and 1 minute walk to train station make this cottage an ideal base for a stress free walking holiday for all abilities with good transport links to nearby towns, villages and attractions too. The owner could not be more helpful in ensuring a pleasant stay without being intrusive in any way"

"A lovely location right on the canal with interesting walks along the towpath both ways. A perfect base for exploring the High Peak area."

"A great little cottage, clean and welcoming. Lovely welcome gifts of flowers, chocolates, biscuits and milk off Chris. Location is fantastic right on the canal with a area to sit and watch the barges go by. Also a nice back garden it still and chill in the sunshine. Overall an amazing 3 night break away. Would definitely return."

"Great little cottage, with a good location on the canal. Cottage has everything you need for a comfortable stay, added bonus of a small garden for the dog. Very little in the immediate village, two pubs and a fish and chip shop, but there is no general store. However, a half hour walk along the towpath or short drive you find Whaley Bridge with shops. So much to do in the area, from energetic walks in the peaks, or strolls in the many pretty villages or Dales."

"We loved the location of the cottage. Very picturesque. The cottage was clean, well stocked. The owner Chris was very pleasant and welcoming. The garden was great for our dogs as it was enclosed. We were aware the kitchen was on the first floor and were ok with this beforehand as we use stairs regularly. But we didn't realise that the stairs would be very steep and with us both having back conditions this didn't help. Especially carrying hot drinks downstairs. Also the cottage was advertised as having wifi which it did. But didn't mention it is only available upstairs, so not ideal. So overall not really suitable for us. But people with no walking disabilities would probably really enjoy their stay."

"Very comfortable cottage, clean cottage, friendly owner and helpful, nice touch with welcome pack and lovely flowers thank you"
    Macdonald ‐ 15 May 2019
"Whilst the was generally good, the lack of control over the central heating was surprising, also a little noisey. However the major problem was with local pubs not doing food."
    Helen ‐ 12 May 2019
"Enjoyed our stay with our 2dogs at the white cottage overlooking the canal with the boats going by. Our dogs loved the walk along the canal .chris the owner welcomed us with a real coal fire burning and nothing was to much trouble we would certainly recommend this to other people and will definitely be back soon I hope"

"We have visited "The White Cottage " many times over the last ten years. Each time we have found Chris and his mum, Barbara, to be friendly and welcoming. Not intrusive but there if we need some assistance. If one wants a peaceful holiday in an ideal location then this is it !"

"Lovely cottage, on the canal. We booked this cottage because it was dog friendly, as was the pub some 50 yards away, good walks along the canal. Train station 30 yards away, 3 miutes into Whaley Bridge for pubs shops and take aways. We opened the door to a roaring coal fire, fantastic owner who was available any time you needed him but completely respected our privacy. We will definately come back."
    Shiv ‐ 14 Apr 2019
"We booked this cottage very last minute and were very grateful Chris was able to fit us in! We didn't actually meet our hosts during our stay but we knew they must be about from the kind treats they left for the children, the welcome note, the way the bins were sorted on collection day... The forecast was grim for the week so we had swopped our camping plan for a cottage at the last minute. It turned out to be a lovely sunny dry week and so we enjoyed lots of canal walks and trips to local towns and villages. Tesco is about a 20 Min stroll down the canal path with children in tow. Plenty to see on the way to keep everyone moving. The cottage itself was spotless and once you get your head around the slightly quirky layout it works really well. I loved sitting on the sunny terrace watching the boats go by. There is also a little self contained garden with patio furniture which is great for dogs and children to go in and out safely. All the equipment we needed was there and working well.Thank you for a great week and if you had anything to do with the change in weather, thanks for that too!!"

"All very clean and very welcoming, very nice indeed"
    Jen ‐ 27 Nov 2018
"Lovely welcome from the owner, introducing himself and a beautifully lit fire was very inviting. The welcome pack and flowers were a great touch. The house was spotless, equipped with all amenities."
    Martyn ‐ 25 Nov 2018
"Fine location, nice and warm with the open fire. The only thing we didn't like was the layout...i.e. The lounge down stairs and kitchen/ dining room upstairs, while querky to begin with, you seemed to be constantly up and down stairs getting a drink etc. Enjoyable long weekend."
