"We, 4 adults and 2 teenagers, had a lovely weekend at Kipling Lodge. The place was very clean when we arrived and the hot tub was lovely and warm in the morning (it took a while to get to temperature due to freezing weather outside). Lovely watching the variety of birds on the feeder in the lodge next door. Great walks on the doorstep with the dog. Only downside was that the mattresses on all the beds need replacing, the shower in the main bathroom was slightly dodgy and the extractor fan in tge kitchen didn't work. None of these things stopped us having a fantastic weekend and the owner was lovely when we rang about the keys. We would highly recommend."

"Beds are really poor had better sleep on the sofa. Desperately needs a new mattress and tlc throughout the lodge. Could do with a hoover or a mop in the lodge to clean the floors aswell."

"hot tub was dreadfull lodge was dirty and dusty"

"Great location loved the privacy of the lodge and that we have the hill for my boys to play in the snow safely! The blue leather couches could do with replacing would give the overall look a more modern feel. Other than than that loved it!"

"The beds and sofas have no comfort, they have seen better days. However the hot tub was great during the day but at night I think there must be a cleaning cycle because no matter how many times you switched it off, it came back on and vibrated through the walls to the main bedroom and was noisy also keeping all of us awake.?"

"Enjoyed our time at Kipling Lodge, set in a lovely quiet location. Hot tub was fantastic & tucked away in a private part of the outside deck - perfect !All the appliances you needed were on hand with a comfortable living area. The only negative was the comfort of the beds, unfortunately the mattresses on the double beds were sadly lacking - such a shame as this was the only downside of our break."

"This was a fabulous place to spend quality family time. The lodge was clean spacious and with everything you need to make life easier. If I had to say anything was not up to the standard of the rest of the lodge it would be to say that the mattresses could be renewed. If your looking for a peaceful relaxing holiday in a home from home this is the place to be."

"We stayed in Kipling lodge for a week with our dog at the end of Aug. The lodge was lovely with loads of space and was well equiped . The hot tub was amazing and we spent most of our evenings in there. The position of the lodge and surrounding area was Brilliant .. we walked round the lake every morning it was great to have it so close. The bedding and towels were clean and fresh...But it was such a shame that the kitchen was so dirty ..it was horrible .. we had to scrub the sides , tiles and cupboards before we could use them . The mattresses were so uncomfortable.. old and worn out and the sofas had both seen better days .(reviews from 2015 were saying the same thing!! ) I booked the lodge believing it had an enclosed garden so we could let the dog out on the grass but both sides are open although the wooden decking has been gated."

"Almost perfect. Outdoor area, and field were perfect for playing with dog. She didn't want to come inside. We used the barbecue nearly every night. The hot tub was superb. Leek was a few minutes drive with numerous supermarkets. 5 mile walks round Rudyard Lake and Tittesworth water, Lud's Church and Heights of Abraham cable car are all worth a visit.A sharp knife, pair of scissors, bread bin, box of matches for when ignition on cooker didn't work, toilet roll in each bathroom and a kitchen roll to start off with, and a welcome tray with coffee and tea to start us off, would make it a perfect holiday place. Thank you. We all really enjoyed our holiday."

"Quiet, nice holiday location. TV signal not working otherwise everything was lovely."
    Angela
"Lovely place to stay, next to the lake and lovely pub/hotel just down the road. Set in a fantastic location for wildlife and walks"

"We had a great time at Kipling lodge! The lodge itself is spacious and well equipt. It was great that we were able to park our cars directly outside. The hot tub was fantastic and great for those not so nice weather days! The site Is in a great location which is nice and peaceful but within easy reach of a number of attractions. The lake, which is a very short walk away, is also lovely. The owners were very responsive and I cannot recommend this place enough. Thanks for a great time."

"Lovely lodge in a fab location. The lodge itself is very worn, settees are damaged and quite dangerous on the broken arms, the beds are the most uncomfortable I have ever slept in. The oven was useless, it didn't get nearly hot enough to cook and water poured from the cooker hood after we had used it which is also dangerous."
    Nick
"Cannot beat the location, walking distance to lake and Hotel Rudyard. Hottub was fantastic. The lodge itself could do with a makeover, everything a little tatty/grubby, sprung matress's have seen better days, dusty cobwebs in main bedroom, unwashed cups and plates even the cutlery has seen better days. The location would draw me back in the future but unless the lodge had some money spent on a makeover, i wouldn't go back."
    Lee
"Enjoyed our stay there, fantastic hot tub. Spent most of time in there. Rudyard Lake was beautiful, long walk around. Lodge was massive and clean, apart from oven, which we failed to use because of cleanliness. But, would definitely go back again, made out wedding anniversary special."

"Absolutely beautiful lodge! People who have left bad reviews before clearly have nothing getter to do than pick holes! The lodge is spacious, clean and has everything you need. The hot tub is awesome, we spent most nights in the hot tub! The only thing that the please could do with is new mattresses (there fine just a little lumpy) and without a doubt WiFi, not to look up the latest Facebook goings on, but because the mobile reception is awful, so looking for a place to visit is a little troublesome at times (they're the only things that our group could think of needing). The owners are friendly and incredibly helpful. The surrounding area is stunning, there's no other word for it, the lake is breath taking as are most of the views where ever you go! Me and my partner fell for Rudyard and leek big time! One thing I will say is watch for speed cameras (not that many people would be driving fast around this area, it's too pretty to miss out on!) there are a lot of them around the area!As for eating out, I can't recommend the Rudyard hotel enough, the food is spot on and the carvery is without doubt the best I've ever had! The staff are friendly and helpful, as is everyone around the area!Over all the lodge is pretty perfect, we already agreed that we will be back next year to the same place! It stole the hearts of my partner and I and we will be back!"

"Lovely location, Chalet a bit shabby needs some tender care like new mattresses and sofas. Being a permanent wheelchair user this is not suitable for someone who requires a wet room. I am versatile so was able to overcome most problems but that may not be possible for someone else. That being said the family really enjoyed it and the hot tub was a very firm favourite. They would visit it again."
    Robert
"Mattresses on beds worn out, settee worn out, oven needs attention, extractor hood broken bathroom tap no water, lights not working on porch, outside needs good clean up,lacking cutlery & very flimsy.decking needs jet washing."
    Sarah
"Loved it. Perfect get away. Very friendly owners. Would highly recommend."

"This lodge is in a lovely position near the lake and style of lodge and layout is good but this accommodation has a lot of maintenance issues it has taps that don't turn off , broken bathroom floor tiles , water not very hot, it was not cleaned properly bins were not even emptied properly, cobwebs and thick dust everywhere , sofa's have seen better days, one side of hot tub does not work properly and the mattresses on the bed are terrible and really uncomfortable for the price we paid the standard was disappointing. this accommodation could be fantastic if was maintained properly to a high standard unfortunately this is not the case at moment . would not book this lodge again ."
    Terence
"Excellent short break, convenient location, lots of rain meant drive was very boggy though, as was ground around the lodge. Overall very very good"
    Kelly
"We had a great time. Although there was only two of us the lodge was lovely and spacious. Was well equipped also."
    Andrew
"Lodge & location very good. A few extra pieces of kitchen equipment would be beneficial. A must for the location would be a children's play area within walking distance. The situation of the lodge is very good, with easy access to most locations (Stoke, Macclesfield, Matlock, Leek, etc)."
    Wendy
"A lovely week spent with the dogs, great area with lovely walks and everything we needed for a great week away."
    Sandra
"Beautiful peaceful location, with lovely walks from your doorstep. The lodge was comfortable with a lovely hot tub to relax in."
    Paul
"A fantastic location with some stunning views. The cottage was well equipped and comfortably furnished. The hot-tub was a great hit with family and many hours were spent indulgingOn the down side, the cottage wasn't very clean and the bed mattress wasn't the bestHaving said that though we would go back as we thoroughly enjoyed our week away."
    richard
"had a great time, was a bit pricey but overall worth the money. whole family enjoyed the break- only slight down side is the lodge is that there is a quite an echo when people are walking about inside which carries at night- probably should just have left the kids at home!"
    Lawley
"Well presented lodge the hot tub was great the only thing I would say is it would have been nice to of had wifi"
    Sarah
"We had a really lovely time. The hot tub was brilliant but little touches like cleanliness of the oven and supply of towels wasn't good. The towels were old and small and only one per person even though there was a hot tub to use. We enjoyed our stay but wouldn't come back again."
    Rob
"Very spacious and nicely presented lodge. Very impressed with the television having a USB port. For information only the TV does not play windows media viewer files, not a problem as we used mp4. The hot tub is well protected from the elements, we used the tub while it was raining heavily without any problems. The only criticism is that the blinds were a little worn especially in the main bedroom. "
    Roy
    "Generally very good. "
    Angela
"Lodge was lovely and was clean. Good size for a lodge as we have stayed in other ones. The reason we wouldn't stay again is because we stay in different areas each time we go. "
    Brian
"very good accommodation though we would need to look at a different location next time"
    DAVID
"WE HAD A VERY ENJOYABLE AND RELAXING HOLIDAY IN THIS PEACEFUL LOCATION. OUR CHILDREN ESPECIALLY ENJOYED THE HOT TUB WHICH WAS USED DAILY. WE WERE ABLE TO TRAVEL EASILY TO LOCAL ATTRACTIONS AND FOUND THE RANGE OF ACTIVITIES ON OFFER IN NEARBY TOWNS AND VILLAGES ADEQUATELY MET OUR NEEDS AS A FAMILY (WE HAVE FOUR CHILDREN AGED 2, 5, 8 AND 11). THEY ALL WANTED TO STAY LONGER THAN THE MON - FRI BREAK WE HAD BOOKED."
